Wings87 — Restaurant in Houston

Good sized, FLAVORFUL, generously sauced wings. What else could you ask for from a wing place? If you're looking for grade A customer service, great sides, and all around hole-in-the-wall restaurant gem in the area - Well look no further.

Wings: Main attraction, no qualms here. So juicy, meaty yet the ends are crispy in all the right spots. The sauce options are plenty. When I called I was able to get the buffalo HOT w/ garlic as opposed to the menu having the garlic option listed under buffalo mild. The lemon pepper mild and buffalo garlic are highly recommend from me. We also got the spicy bbq teriyaki and the honey hot. I will say their spice level between mild and hot is spot on (plenty of flavor with the right amount of heat with each option. Nothing is overbearing between flavor and heat, but instead is a beautiful dance moving in harmony inside your mouth).

Sides: Onion rings were great, the batter was spot on, good flavor and size, and no greasy texture or drip. Curly fries, I'll admit is the negative point in the review - they were stale. Ample amount, but stale.

Miscellaneous: No wait time, I was told 25 minutes, but I reckon it was finished in 15. I can only guess it's from not many people knowing its hidden/obscure location. Condiments were plenty (ketchup, thick napkins, etc).They've been opened since 2019 and survived the lockdown and are well worth the local support. Locals and first responders may even get a 10% discount (I forgot to apply it prior to checkout). The price is a smidge higher than BWW/Wingstop, but you can't deny the trade off is well worth everything else in return.

Initially I was going to give them 4/5 for the curly fries, but everything else in the experience makes up for it. Especially if this score was solely based on the wings, it would receive 1,000/10. Simply superb. Quit reading and order yourself some wings to get a taste...

Wings 87 is a nice wing spot. Do not expect to much as the place is small. My wife and I were expecting to have a sit down meal, but the size of this place does not accommodate sit down eating. There is a counter by the window with 4 stools and a picnic bench outside if you would like to eat there. We sat in the car and ate our food just to see how everything was. We were pleasantly surprised with everything that we ordered. The food was well prepared and delightful to eat. I would encourage anyone to try them out. They also have lunch buffets during the week that I hope to try out soon. I don't remember right off hand, but I believe the hours are 11-2. I spoke with the owners and they plan on doing daily specials. I don't know if they've started yet. I like that the cook creates his own seasoning creating a personal touch to their food. It is definitely worth trying out. When you go there, be sure to look for their shop. They are in a small business strip and the didn't have a marquee on the building yet when I went. This place is like a Ma and Pops hole in the wall location. Their menu consists of over 20+ flavors which is amazing! Combo options include a side like fries or curly fries and garlic bread and a couple others. I tried the Jamaican jerky with the sauce not the rub and spicy Korean BBQ. The Jamaican jerky was a bit too salty for me but had good flavoring otherwise, and the Korean BBQ was pretty good but they doused the wings in a deep liquid of sauce. For some that is awesome and others such as myself not so much. They are super smart though to put the wings in aluminum foil not paper so it doesn't soak through and keeps the wings hot without cooling fast compared to paper. As for a side I got the curly fries and they were good. It's small with no bathroom and I didn't see wet wipes so expect sticky fingers on the way out if you stay to eat.
