My family has a tradition of cooking Italian sausages on Christmas Eve that goes back at least 100 years. We've been looking for a local sausage-maker that comes close to the quality and flavor of the sausages we remember, but couldn't quite find the right touch among all the fine sausage-makers of the mid-Willamette Valley, until we tried Voget's Mild Italian Sausage. Much superior to the Italian sausage in typical grocery stores, these had the right blend of herbs and spices, with just a hint of red pepper heat. It’s no wonder Voget Meats has 5 stars! What a primo establishment. For as long as I can remember, (over 55 years) my family has been ordering beef & pork from Voget Meats. Their bacon and German sausage have forever been staples in our large family. Fantastic customer service! Immensely helpful by phone and in person. Highly recommend. Brought in seventy pounds of waterfowl to have made into pepperoni sticks and summer sausage. They got the flavoring and texture right but the packaging was the worst I’ve seen. Summer sausage had one layer of paper wrapped around it and pepperoni was packaged in a loose plastic bag with a twist tie. None of it adequate for freezing. After only three months in the freezer everything is somewhat freezer burnt. I will not bring wild game...
