Don’t ignore this review or others if you are thinking about living at The Vineyard. I did & I learned my lesson.
When I moved in everything was fairly new & super spacious. Management is good with sending updates about work going on in the complex. Other than that, this complex is awful.
1: Roaches everywhere, no matter what When I moved in I saw a few roaches but know that if there is even a little mess, if you leave dishes out for 1 night, or if neighbors are messy, there will be many more. You can put your apartment on a list for an exterminator but it only helps for a couple of days.
People treat courtyards like their own backyard & have little respect Almost every day there are people just hanging outside for hours smoking pot & cigarettes. If someone wants to smoke pot, that’s their choice but I’d rather it not be in a courtyard shared by 30+ apartments & where little kids play. People will also be loud & rowdy. People will have their friends over & spend the entire night drinking, smoking & shouting outside. Police have also shown up twice to my courtyard for fighting. My roommate’s dog got a little excited when a group of teenagers walked by but was held back; one of the teenagers then said, “I would’ve kicked that b*h” within earshot of me. My roommate was offered drugs several times in the laundry facilities & A LOT of people in the complex either do or sell drugs. Other things I’ve seen are: someone washing & leaving a motorcycle on their front step for a month, kids leaving toys outside, someone’s poop covered chair sitting on their front step (which they just covered with cardboard & continued to use), people parking on the sidewalk between buildings, people not keeping their dogs on leashes & letting them run INTO MY APARTMENT, being invited for drinking at 2am by total strangers, & much more.
Parking is a nightmare If you want guests, it’s better to pick them up or have them take a cab/Uber because there is no guest parking. After they repaved the parking lots the closest guest parking to my building was the opposite side of the complex. Even if your guest is fine parking far away, good luck finding a spot. There are so few parking spaces tenants just use guests spots too. You’ll have to hope that if you leave there’ll still be a spot when you’re back because it fills up fast.
Management is bad at communicating about renewals I made the mistake of living at The Vineyard for 2 years. The first year, before they sent out initial renewal notices, they pushed the renewal deadline for fall leases almost 2 months earlier so instead of it being June, it became mid-April. Mind you, this change was made AT THE BEGINNING OF APRIL. My roommate was moving out & I needed a new one so with the VERY sudden deadline I was forced to find someone in 10 days or less. Fortunately I did but I shouldn’t have had TEN DAYS to figure out if I was going to renew or not. This year, they posted notices at the beginning of the year that renewals could be done soon but no other info. After that, I had no idea when the new rates were or the deadlines to lock in those rates. They sent 2 vague far apart texts & that’s all I knew. They also kept addressing messages to my old roommate who had been off the lease for a year. It’s like they had no idea who was living there.
There is very little upkeep to buildings & grounds It seems petty but I don’t feel very at home if where I’m living looks like a dump on the outside. Looking at the buildings you can tell they haven’t been touched up in years. In my 2 years I only saw them repaint the stair rails (important, I know) & replace the building number signs. Other than that the buildings are in need of a repainting, doors need new numbers, & everything need landscaping. Nothing is inviting or welcoming past the leasing office.
I lived at The Vineyard for 2 years & it was 2 too long. Don’t put yourself through the torment of living here. It’s a trashy place & will continue to be if DTI doesn’t made some major changes. Do yourself a favor, live...
Read moreThis is the WORST PLACE TO RENT FROM. my a/c has been acting up all summer, not blowing cold air hell not blowing at all. I called the office more then 20 times because of my concerns. The maintenance man keep coming over and every time he could not find the problem. He eventually told me that there was nothing more he could do. That these apartments are made badly and it was just that, the ac was old. But never said he would replace it. By this time he would keep coming up with every single excuse as to why my A/c would not work. On 8/25/15 we came home and the ac unit wasnt blowing and it was making humming noises. Previously prior 2 days before it was making the same noises but i noticed that it wasnt cool either and to us this was normal. On 8/25/15 i contacted emergency maintenance who came out promptly, investigated to find that the motor was NO GOOD. He went out the the " shop" to find a new motor to place in it, well the motor he came back with was also old and didnt work, he said he looked everywhere for a window unit in the shop and he couldn't find one!!!! Let me remind you really fast, i have 2 children, one that is special needs. We can NOT HAVE OUR KIDS IN THIS HEAT LIKE THIS. im livid. My husband is livid. And im done. They will fix this! And i will be compensated. The last time i called to complain about the ac i told Brittany that we pay 719$ a month to live comfortable and that we are not. I had my own private ac unit company come to the apartment and look at the problem. Because obviously they couldn't find it. And she processed to tell me that she cant go baised apon what i say, she has to go with what the maintenance man says. No matter if i actually ac repair company came to look at the...
Read moreIn the beginning this was an ok place to live at for its price. But every single year they've been raising rent with no excuse besides "well everyone else is." Its not like they spend money on renovating or expanding. I've been here this year being 3 and this last bit I asked for my rent to stay the same since i only need to stay 6more months and as usual they did not want to cooperate at all. The crazy thing is typically when you resign, and the earlier you do the cheaper it is but not with these people. If I resigned earlier it wouldnt be as expensive as if I resigned later. My rent still increased even after resigning early but hey at least it didnt increase as much as it did for others who resigned after. Load of bs. Oh and they charge you a significant amount more because you dont stay a year. Tf is wrong with this manager?! Cant express how happy I am to say I'll be moving soon and will be moving somewhere else that is ACTUALLY WORTH the price since its nicer there, bigger and oh! Also more trust worthy! I own a motorcycle and I park it in the resident parking right next to the wall of my apartment but now they made another bs excuse of I cant park it there and need to park it in the motorcycle spots which they didnt have and the one time I parked it further from my apartment someone tried stealing it! It was moved further back than from where I parked it. And I'm sure they're not gonna pay for it if it gets stolen. This manager or whoever makes so many bs rules but does nothing to make this place better and safer. I cant wait to leave. Go with papermoon, or a townhome, or literally anywhere else. Its safer and much more convenient as well as their staff is much more flexible and...
