Well to start off the biggest thing I disliked about this place was that some of the servers were not required to pull their hair back so that it wasn't getting in food when they were serving it. The booth that they sat us in had no lights over the top of the booth I had to use my flashlight on my phone to read the menu. We ordered appetizer that was very good but so it would come out quick the service was very slow our tea took forever to get I got mine first but for some reason my friend got her sweet tea after me then we had to demand straws it just was not a good experience. Here is what the internet says about the hair. In Walker County, Texas, the health code requires all food employees, including servers with long hair, to wear effective hair restraints when handling or preparing exposed food. However, the requirement is less strict for servers who only handle minimal risk items. Walker County follows the Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER), which are set by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The owner came up to me and I asked him about the Walker county regulations for hair being pulled up by servers he said there was none. No there is none in Walker county but the state of Texas requires it as my above post States. This will be one restaurant that I will not go back to because of the servers being allowed to have their hair flowing over their shoulders and not tied back to keep from getting it food he said he had never had a complaint about hearing his food yet. They've only been open at this location since March of this year. I was highly offended that those waitress one waitress in particular was allowed to have her hair flowing loose all the way down...
Read moreUnfortunately, Honor Cafe does not honor a discount for a 20 year plus Veteran, whom served 2 Iraq Wars, and provided a Military ID, nor give the Elderly enior Citizens Discounts. REVISED: So, I read the owner's comments, and I will make a positive Suggestion, so this isn't all negative. For those Military (retired/who served), or Senior Citizens, as far as a discount, most people are very happy for simple discounts even, like, 10% off, or how about we don't charge you for Tea? In my case, the Bill was $60, so 10% would be $6.00 off, or your charging $3.00 per Tea (3 of us ordered Tea), that is $9.00 just for Tea. If you said, hey, we will not charge the Tea, or do 10% off the bill for a Military or Senior Citizens Discount, people would be very appreciative. Just that alone will get people talking, and recommending your place in a positive way. When our Military Vets come in you don't want to get a negative about your business, especially naming your place "HONOR" Cafe., and not doing simple gestures to feel appreciated, like taking just a little percentage off, or something else, free appetizer, or a free hat (saw your hats for sale), anything simple people will remember in a positive way., and to promote your business by word of mouth. Just a thought, try it, see if this works more in a positive way, and I am sure your business will grow. I will most likely not come back, unless, invited with a different mindset for our Veterans, whom I cherish them proudly, being a War Vet myself, or see people's response's to some changes at your place of business for our Veterans, all...
Read moreI was greeted, and seated immediately. The host took my drink order (coffee, black), and brought it to my table promptly with the menu. {Side note on the menu: Excellent presentation. Anyone who has ever spent any time, on any military base will recognize the "ACCO Presentation Folder" used for important documents.} The place is highly decorated as a field post would be, with flags and memorabilia on each wall, and some good quality aircraft models are on display in aerobatic flight orientations. The clean concrete floor is better than many installations I've been in, and it is consistent with the Military Theme. My breakfast bowl came out quickly, despite my special order, along with offered Cholula. {See the Dietary restrictions section below.}So why not 5 Stars Top to Bottom? This quality establishment is being compared against the breadth of my personal experiences. I enjoyed the smell of the food so much I neglected to take the picture of the food before taking a bite! To earn that 5th Star, my wonderful dish would need to use red chili to complement the chorizo. And the atmosphere is mostly a matter of personal taste that would be enhanced in my book if the staff dressed in period WWII uniform attire that would go along with the Corsair model I sat beneath. :) {My Father was a WWII Vet, so I'm partial to that era.} Check out the Red Board Tavern & Table in Navasota for a 5...
