This was one of my favorite places in the world when I was a young kid, this was "my mall" I have very fond memories of buying, selling, and drooling over all the Pokemon cards I would never have in Grand slam than going to RadioShack with my dad while my mom shopped at Jo-Ann fabrics, and finishing the night off by buying a boys surprise bag at dollar tree back when it was a much more unique store than it is today. I wish I could give it a higher score than I did in my heart it would be a five, but in reality it's barely a 3 don't get me wrong there are some amazing stores in there right now definitely give it a visit with places like the Wheel and Cog Children's Museum, Top Deck Gaming and Act Your Age, LLC it is a rather inviting and safe place for children and parents to hang out and there's a couple original stores too like Jo-Ann fabrics and bed bath & body works but the problem is that when JCPenney's was bought out by Marshalls they completely cut themselves off from the interior of the mall and there's not even a convenient way to get from the mall into the store making the inside of the mall quite irrelevant nowadays. I honestly don't know why they did this I always wondered if it was some sort of quote unquote chopping off the hand save the arm situation but that doesn't even make sense to me because you would think that having access to the mall would just be a benefit. I mean they're Marshalls people are going to go there no matter where they are I think you would do better for the mall and Marshalls to connect them in the interior we're at the very least I'll make a door on that side of the mall then all you have to do is walk outside and walk back in as it is right now if you go into the mall you have to walk all the way back to the main entrance and then walk on the outside of the building all the way back to the end of the mall to get into Marshalls and there is that exit on that side of the mall that takes you out back by the restrooms but that's just as far away from the main Marshalls entrance so it's the same problem so if you are reading this because you're going to Marshalls take the time to go out of your way and check out the mall too because cool places like...
Read moreMarshall's and Running's make for good replacement anchors to the Hutchinson Mall. Unfortunately neither store currently have an entrance to the mall interior. Dunham's bars that access for Running's while Marshall's opted for not having one.
There are several store fronts available that would make for good spots to fill in what Hutchinson lacks currently. We haven't had a place specifically for books, movies, and music for at least 15 years. Yeah I know, people tend to get digital versions of those nowadays, or order off of Amazon... But I still think that there is room for the brick and mortar versions, especially if those also maintain an online presence with both their own website and Amazon or Ebay to deal with any...
Read moreWas decent at one point but there's not much there. Used to be a jc penny, Hallmark stuff like that but it's all gone now. I could go into the politics but suffice it to say, only reason Togo there is for bed and bath, the shoe place and Joan fabrics. Dunham sports is connected to the mall, but is really its own separate thing. Only food is vending machines, but theres a few restaurants around that area. The staff are fine, place is clean and all that, there's just nothing there. Apparently there was a food court and all kinds of stores in the 80's and 90's but that was...
