Shamrock Inn — Hotel in Hutchinson

When I visited this place it reminded me that life is all about the journey. ||Upon entering the hotel the first thing I noticed was Fox News on the lobby television. I’m a staunch liberal visiting a great friend who is Republican. This made for some witty banter with the innskeeper. ||The ice machine and vending machines were broken and there were boxes stacked in the lobby. The innskeeper lives on the premises and is summoned when you hit the remote bell at the desk. ||He’s got health problems but he’s working on them with some sort of cult new age elixer, also he’s a fellow Capricorn and as everyone knows we’ve been massively disadvantaged since it entered our star sign sixteen years ago. Now it’s transiting out of our planetary trajectory and we feel such relief. ||Long story short, the reason I give this place so much grace is because it smells lived in like my grandma’s stinky old 70’s house with carpet in the bathroom. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The room was clean. It had a nice flat-screen tv, free wifi, a fridge and a microwave. We slept well. ||The mattress was so soft that, sitting on the end of the bed, it sunk about a foot, but was pretty firm at the sides. The two pillows were extremely thin. I had brought my chiro pillow and a fleece blanket from home so it was fine.||There were very few amenities. The blow dryer was missing from its hanger. There was a fridge and microwave which we didn't use. There was no coffeemaker in the room and no morning coffee or breakfast, but restaurants are very close by, as is a convenience store.||The motel badly needs updating. I don't care about the furniture style but the carpet had a big hole in it. The drapes had holes. The bathroom door had damage. The mirror needs to be replaced. The baseboards need to be replaced and the hall carpet is rippled and dirty.||It's an ok place to stay but overpriced for the mediocre quality. Parking and wifi were free and...

We stayed here Feb. 2022. We tryed to unload my husband with his wheelchair at 7:30 pm. The handicapped spot was taken by a contractors truck. We asked to alert them and have them move so we could get my husband in. They would not. We had to ask other people for help in getting him in. Our heater in the room would not work. We asked twice to have it looked at. Nothing was done. They were full so we could not move. I had to bundle him up in this wheelchair and a shower was not to happen in the cold room. tak We called the manager the day after getting home. She gave me her life history about how everything was so high and she wasn't making ends meet. She finally said she would give part of our fee back. We never got a dime. We will not stay there again even though we had stayed there for many many years since going that way...
