This review pertains to Shawn Lowrey.
We came in to shop for a electric recliner, which is sorely needed because I am a young disabled individual who spends most of my time in a chair. I use a walker. Shawn was incredibly helpful and kind, very hospitable and chatty. He made a big show of saying that he would made sure that everything was right and that we, the customers, would be satisfied. We made a purchase of a âBestâ brand chair with a lot of confidence in the service we would receive.
But when we got the chair to our home and I had sat in it for an extended period of time, I realized I had not taken into account the amount of features that were necessary to accommodate my severe disability. I felt horrible that my family had gone through the work and finances to get a chair that would not work out for me, but we were lucky in that Timberline allowed us to have a full refund. The lady on the phone was very understanding, and we returned the chair.
My mom and I went back to the store to look for another chair, and thatâs when things took a 180 degree turn very quickly. First, we were not greeted by Shawn, even when my mom said hello to him. He remained at his computer and did not look at us. When we finally were able to get him to speak, he was incredibly condescending and rude. We tried one of the chairs we had previously looked at and asked him to plug it in. He said he did, but it didnât work and he did nothing as my mom struggled to find a way to get it to work.
Shawn told us that what we were looking for did not exist and that we would have to get a â$3000â medical chair. We asked if there were other brands such as Lazy Boy, but he said that they were all âparticle boards and foam,â and that the company hadnât made good chairs in 20 years. I had never come across a salesman that seemed so reluctant to get our business back, nor had I seen such a vast personality change in one person within a matter of days. We all have bad days, but Shawn was a complete jerk. Being disabled is difficult enough without having to deal with people who make life even harder.
My mom and I eventually made our way to Odellâs Furniture, where we were treated with kindness and respect. We found exactly the chair we needed with the features that help make life easier, and for a great price to boot. Their delivery fee was a fraction of what Timberlineâs was. Iâm sitting in it right now and itâs great. And...
Read moreEdited on 4/16/2024: Paul Landon, the owner of Timberline Furniture, has continued to demonstrate what a good sales person should do in supporting their customer and so I am changing my rating from 1 star to 5 stars. I will add that I will only engage in business with him at Timberline for potential sales for the foreseeable future.
Edited on 12/12/2022: Paul Landon took ownership and called me today, apologizing profusely for my experience at Timberline, even going as far as offering a gift certificate to get my business back. Going forward, I'll be working with Paul and scheduling appointments, if necessary to avoid encountering Shawn again. My faith in Timberline is restored based on this excellent response from Paul, addressing my customer service concerns. Good job Paul and I hope you can find someone better since I am sure you would double your business or more, if you do.
I am writing this review about the sales person, Shawn Lowrey, at Timberline Furniture in Idaho Falls in hopes the owner Paul Landon reads it. Shawn is the worst sales person I have ever encountered in my life. He is defensive, condescending and generally a whiney negative person. I have been in the store two times within the last month and spoke with him on the phone two times, including 1 call to make a purchase which was an âeasyâ sale for him.
Shawn makes it painfully difficult to do business there and as a result, I wonât be. He âsealed that dealâ tonight when I called to confirm what color a Stressless couch was that I was considering purchasing off the floor, if it was the right color or at least ordering one, if it wasnât. Shawn took a guess at what it was and said he was ringing up a sale. I wanted to be sure so said he could call me back after he was done and in his worst sales person and patronizing voice said âI wonât be calling you back tonight.â I replied back âIâm done with you, Shawn and I wonât be doing any more business with you.â A friend of mine who was a potential customer for buying furniture was sitting with me and she could here what Shawn said to me and had the same response as I did. She also got to experience what he was like while picking my furniture up.
Really, itâs too bad Timberline canât get a competent sales person since they have nice furniture and I was excited that a more âlocalâ store was carrying the Stressless brand, but itâs surely not worth the pain of...
Read moreI have never dealt with anybody so rude as Shawn the store manager. Purchased a table set from him based off of his sales pitch that his store only buys top quality furniture. Belittled every other furniture store he could mention by saying how cheaply made it all was and that his was made from real wood and real leather. Big A..... Joke!!! Paid extra for delivery and set up but found the chairs to be damaged and made of compressed particle board. Called him to rectify the situation and was treated with such disrespect over the phone for wanting my money back. His furniture is not higher quality than anybody elseâs around but yet he charges a ton more. I will never step foot in his store again. Iâd rather shop at Big Lots than deal with his big fat rude, cocky,...
