Powerhouse Gym Clarkston, MI 24/7 — Local services in Independence Charter Township

Extremely unprofessional management, especially the manager Matt. I have witnessed Matt's unprofessional and rude mannerism towards other gym members and gym staff. This is clearly not a new issue considering there are other reviews from 2 years ago with the same complaints about Matt. I only hope that the owner of this franchise takes these multiple complaints into consideration as the gym staff would not inform me who owned the gym or give me any contact information for the owner. I was a member at this gym a few years ago and I returned in the last couple of months since they opened back up after COVID. Since returning, I have rarely seen the manager or other staff members wearing masks (which are required by the state). They provide towels and disinfectant spray to clean off the machines but I rarely see any gym members with one. I have also never seen a staff member clean the gym floor during staffed hours. I had been around 150/160lbs most of my life. When I joined powerhouse, I started doing classes and eventually I was doing 5-11 classes a week for 1yr & 1/2yrs. Toward the end i was even doing personal training once a week w my husband. I got down to 130lbs before my herniated disc in my neck stopped me from going. I must say I feel like I learned a lot about nutrition from the personal trainer and it was an experience I would do again if I could afford to. I've been getting physical therapy for my neck and lower back because I broke my L3 last summer and I am looking forward to going back and working out here again. I've also been able to keep my weight at 125 for the last 2 years and I'm looking forward to getting more toned at the gym. Sales "manager" Matt is rude and confrontational. He has no respect for customers and it's evident in his interactions with them. I tried to call and register a complaint multiple times but received a call back from someone claiming to be the general manager telling me to contact him at the gym. Unfortunately, every time I called back the general manager was mysteriously never there. If it actually was the general manager trying to contact me: if you're really trying to resolve a problem, you should give me a number I can actually reach you at. With so many other cheaper gym options in the area, you'd think they'd care more about the customer experience.
