This might prove to be a hidden gem. Tucked in the strip mall on the south west corner of Sashabaw and Waldon, just south of the I-75 exit this nicely furnished restaurant serves both Chinese and Thai dishes. It also offers a full bar for those that like to have an Asian beer or a cocktail before or with your meal.
For my first visit I ordered a Sapporo and the full order Thai Cashew Chicken (rather than the smaller and less expensive lunch special version). Cashew chicken is my go-to and a baseline for me to measure a new Thai or Chinese restaurant.
I received a very nice cup of soup - I selected egg drop which came with a full bowl of fried salty chips to sprinkle over it. Both were very good. I was also served an egg roll with optional hot mustard sauce (good, but not exceptional).
The serving of Cashew Chicken was huge and in fact ended up being two meals along with my left over fried chips from the soup. I opted for the fried rice which was a simple but tasty version. The chicken was tender with a wide variety of vegetables. It was spicy, not as spicy as I might have preferred but I wasn't offered a selection of spiciness. All in all very good, better than most places, but not my all time favorite version of this dish.
Finally I ordered a takeout of Summer Rolls which I was reminded is the uncooked rice paper wrapped version with vegetables. That is what I wanted, but it was nice to confirm as I've accidentally ordered the fried type more than once. The Summer rolls were 4 huge rolls with a small cup of dipping sauce which tasted more Hoisin than peanut and also had slivers of carrots in it. Quite tasty and my wife's favorite bring home treat when I venture out on my own for a...
Read moreAfter searching for yummy Chinese food in our area and being disappointed again and again, I listened to some locals and made the 20 minute drive here. It was well worth it!
FINALLY found a place we want to return to, with delicious food and very welcoming staff.
Hot and sour soup was the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot). There was an actual hint of spiciness and it wasn’t so congealed and cornstarch-y like many others I’ve tried. Delicious soup base with a pleasing finish.
Wonton soup was also yummy - but…we got mostly broth and only 4 wontons in a full quart. Will ask for more next time (and this could have been a fluke as they were really busy that night).
Egg drop soup was good too.
Crab maco (crab rangoon) was fantastic! The individual pieces were huge, stuffed to the brim, and fried to crispy perfection.
Egg rolls had sprouts (my preference) and were also perfectly fried.
General Tso’s and Sesame Chicken combo plates were also a hit. Wish the fried rice had some veggies in it, but the texture and taste was great regardless.
Didn’t try the spring rolls yet, but given the track record so far, I’m sure those will...
Read moreWe discovered this Chinese joint when looking at places to cater in our non traditional Christmas family dinner for 2022. Never eating here before, it was definitely a long shot but lemme tell you, we've been back a few times already and it's consistent delicious. The food is great. All of the chicken has been nice and crispy. The breading is a little thick but I think that's usually the case with carry out Chinese food. The Thai dishes are great too. Drunken noodle is delicious and perfectly spicy as is. The honey chicken is extremely tasty and a nice change from the typical sweet and sour. So far the timing from call in to food being ready has been on point at 20 minutes or less. Buy the almond cookies on the counter!! They are delicious. Perfectly sweet, buttery goodness to finish off dinner and a nice change up from the traditional fortune cookie finish. Definitely try this place out if you're looking for delicious Chinese or Thai food. I don't think it'll be your last time ordering...
