Morefields Supersaver — Local services in Independence

First this is a discount store of (packaging) possibly damaged in transit but the merchandise in great, usable shape. Check expiration dates, they may be just expired, nearing expiration, a bit beyond, but many items are still well before expiration. This said, the store is kept neat and clean. Organized nicely. This could be a bit of a challenge since they can sometimes have ever changing merchandise. But making it a little bit easier is they do have a steady supply of many things. So they do have things categorized in sections. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. If you are unsure if they carry something or unsure where something would be, just ask, they'll answer with a smile.

5-20-2022 Went back to Morefields today. Honestly this is a nice store just like I said before. Employees are very friendly and eager to help. Store is clean, well organized and sectioned off nicely. As a follow up to my earlier review describing a concern about my debit card charges... Mr. Morefield went to the trouble to seek out my number and called me to let me know they had found their error and had corrected the charges to the bank. It was a series of unusual circumstances that prevented me from reaching them by phone. Mr. Morehead was so kind and apologetic about the mixup. I appreciate his efforts in reaching out to me.

My previous post: I"ve loved shopping at Morefields a handful of times and have always found great deals. I shopped yesterday and spent $48. Today, I see that my debit card transaction was for $480. I've tried reaching them by phone all morning...no answer at either the Independence or Leavenworth location. The webiste link leads to nothing. I'm not on facebook so can't try to reach them that way. I live quite a way from the location. I want to believe that it was a accident on their part. But I'm concerned that I can't reach the business. Seems like it should be easier to reach them to recitify the...

The place passes itself off as a discount/freight grocery and household store, but it is ridiculously over-priced on most items. Clearest example: today when I arrived there was a pickup unloading about a dozen big packages of Sam's Club Member's Mark toilet paper. Inside the store a worker was taking the smaller 9-roll units out of the bigger Sam's Club packaging, putting individual price tags on them, and sticking them on the shelf. She was marking the 9-roll package at $6.99. That's a 50% markup, and it's pretty indicative of what you'll find throughout the store. (The 45-roll pkg.at Sam's is $22.98, so $4.59 per 9 rolls.) True, some grocery items long past their "Best By" date are discounted here. They had 12-packs of outdated Dr. Pepper for $4. But the vast majority of the store is odd and ends and damaged goods at near-Walmart pricing. It's not worth a drive if you thought this was a true...
