Michelle's Cakes — Local services in Indian Head

My future wife and I met Michelle months before our wedding day. We were very impressed with her presentation at the cake tasting and the one-on-one time that she had committed to us that day. I was a bit concerned, however, when I had not received any type of communication 1 month out...1 week out. My Florist and other services had communicated down to an hour prior to the agreed upon timelines. But there can never be any greater means of communication than a person who is true to his or her word. My contact with Michelle had stated that my cake would be delivered no later than a couple of hours before the start of the wedding. My contract also stated that the 3- layered cake would be of the flavors that we had chosen during our meeting with Michelle. What the contract did not include is that I would need to brace myself as I came downstairs from the bridal suite that morning; on the way down to the lower-level of our town home to where I would see my bride, family, and friends. Michelle left a voicemail on my phone on the day I was supposed to pick up my son's graduation cake that I ordered over a month in advance, explaining her daughter forgot to bake/make the bottom half of my son's graduation cake🤢 They prioritized a wedding before my son's graduation.🤬 When I arrived at the shop of course free cupcakes were given but the damage was already done. Did I also mention she asked me if maybe I had the wrong day and maybe his party is really for the next day with no empathy in her demeanor.😔 As I left the shop I wondered if her motivation or lack thereof was racially tainted or financially motivated🤔 I have been all over this world being a military vet and all, and I am not in the custom of leaving bad reviews on the cause of not wanting to hurt hard working people's businesses, it even took me a minute to get up the nerve to write this one, but I just felt I had to share, Michelle's Cakes does not deserve a 5 star! They dropped the ball on this one and they needed to be held...

Michelle Cakes, I just wanted to let you know the cake you designed and made (Lemon/Raspberry) was an absolute hit with my family and guest for our family Thanksgiving dinner!!!! Thank you again for such a very attractive cake and design and delicious Cake allowing my input of designs and your adaptability to envision of what I was looking for. Too many time other bakeries cakes look good but taste like cardboard. Your cakes not only are above other bakeries but are Soooooo delicious. For the price you charge vs the quality of presentation and taste your my #1 bakery and every chance I get I tell everyone about your cakes. Also, I didn't get to thank you for the beautiful cake design for my Wife's 50th Bday Party. Thanks for accommodating my wishes and designs on that cake as well! Again.
