Anytime Fitness — Local services in Indianapolis

I will preface this review by noting I went to this Anytime Fitness location since it opened. I primarily went to this location for more than 3 years and was an Anytime member for around 5 years.

The gym itself is fine - good variety of equipment and usually not too busy. My poor review is solely based on customer service, specifically with the manager, Caleb. I asked to cancel my membership back in February because my then-fiance was opening a gym himself. I spoke to one of the female employees and she told me the day my contract would be terminated, said my key card would be deactivated, and told me I was good to go.

Six months later, I realized I had still been getting charged every month. After multiple phone calls and THREE meetings with Caleb, he refused to admit the gym mis-handled my membership termination and will not approve their billing service to refund me for the six months I was improperly charged. My husband was recently a trainer at another Anytime Fitness location and is keen to how this process works. All it requires is for Caleb to inform the billing company of the mistake, which he is choosing not to do, like the ~$250 is coming directly out of his pocket.

Caleb informs me my membership was never officially ended because I needed to sign a letter -- something I had never been told before. Why am I being faulted for not knowing the gym's membership termination policy? Now, after the phone calls, failed meetings with Caleb, and filing an official complaint with Anytime Fitness corporate (which was then forwarded to the local club and subsequently ignored), I am turning to Google Reviews since nothing else has been successful.

I would also note, my dad dealt with a similar situation years ago with this specific location. It would not surprise me if this is a common mistake at best, or intentional...

I worked out here this morning as I'm visiting from out of town so this was my only opportunity to hit the gym. I find the equipment selection at most AFs to be quite similar and this was the same, so it had everything I expected and needed for my workout. Therefore, my rating of 5 stars reflects what's most important to me: the gym was clean and equipment was in good shape, there were cleaning cloths and spray for wiping down the equipment and people were considerate to use these, the bathrooms were clean, and most importantly: a member of the staff, Geno (sp?), greeted me with a warm smile and friendly welcome which left a lasting positive impression on me. Additionally, while I was working out, another member kindly asked if she could work out in the space next to me. I really appreciate this kind of vibe at the gym: kindness and consideration towards other people. That said, I would appreciate it if someone would ask me "Good morning! Are you planning to use these plates?" before grabbing them off the rack I'm using in the middle of my set. One member did that here, too, without asking. I didn't need them but still I'd appreciate a kind greeting and asking just in case I was planning on using them. Next time I visit the area I'll definitely plan to hit...

The gentleman who is the manager is a real good guy. He even gave me shirt. How cool is that. There is a girl that works here too who is super nice. Both of them work out and have greta physique. If you need help getting toned up they would be perfect people to help. They are so nice. The location is booming. There is a lot of people coming to this gym now. Some doing basic things, others doing power lifting. But everyone here is able to get to the machines and get a good work out in. Anytime fitness is the way to go if you need or want a membership. I have been doing this over 15 years so I know. I've had memberships everywhere. But anytime fitness will be a forever home gym for me. They also are spread out and they are put in good areas whether I'm down the street or even in another state. Go ahead and sit and wait for a machine to open at planet fitness. By that time I will be done and over with with my killer work out at anytime fitness on LAFEYETTE ROAD. I WISH THERE WAS 6 STARS....
