All I wanted was to get an idea of what it would cost to do some basic services to my truck (change the transmission fluid, rear differential fluid, and fuel filter). He side stepped the question only to finally answer with the reply “I would rather get to that when we have the truck in the shop”. I dislike business that won’t tell you what they want to charge until you problem is dissembled and you almost have no choice but to pay them. Trying to be polite and receptive towards him I simply took a business card from his pile and asked if I could call him at that number later when he had more time as I could see he was busy. In front of three people in his reception room he said he would not service my vehicle as I seemed pushy and he is very busy. Honesty is their best quality. Been servicing our cars here for over 6 years now and I can always count on their best suggestions for trouble shooting problems. One day I brought in a Mazda 5 with a serious oil leak. They rigged a hydro test to locate the leak. It ended up being an oil cooler issue. Previous owner said he would fix it and took it to his mechanic. Gene's Auto didn't charge for the trouble shooting test they performed. Great guys, amazing integrity. Dealer quoted $650 to replace a caliper and assembly on my Toyota Sequoia after I took it in because it was making some really loud scraping noises. I was told the caliper was bad and it needed to be replaced. Gene's guys took a look and it turned out the spring holding the pad in place came loose (dealer had installed it 5 months prior) and that was causing the noise.
