I used to come to Diho Siam pretty often when I used to live in Lake Forest considering that the Thai food they have here is pretty good and priced reasonably well. Even though we now live in Irvine, my girlfriend and I decided we wanted Thai food for dinner last night and came here after a Costco run. I'm usually a big fan of Pad Thai when coming to any Thai cuisine, but decided to change it up and try out other things on the menu.
Thai Iced Tea (3/5): Nothing too special here really... if anything it's like any other Thai Iced Tea I've ever had before. I think $3.00 for one of these is a tad bit pricey, considering I make just as good of a one at home with the tea leaves and some condensed milk.
Spicy Meat Salad (4/5): My first time trying this dish out. Surprisingly it came out to be pretty delicious and the meat is cooked and seasoned well. The only thing that got me a little bit disappointed was that I was expecting literally a salad with just meat and no veggies and the portion was smaller than I would like. However, it is a salad and can't say that I'm surprised you get enough to just satisfy your hunger pains until the entree comes out.
Green Jungle Curry (4/5): Decided to get this with just the scallops instead of the seafood combo. Not sure if I regretted my decision or indifferent, but I was worried that the amount of scallops given in the seafood combo would consists of only a couple of them. The overall taste and quality of the curry though was pretty spot on to what you'd expect from any Thai restaurant. Although the scallop route as a protein wasn't too bad, I think I'll opt for the beef next time for any other...
Read moreI agree with one of the reviewers of this place. The food is good. We have had no issues with that. I could easily rate this place 4 to 5 stars -- but I knocked off 4 stars and giving it a 1-star rate, because for the 3 visits and patronization of this restaurant, my family and I encountered the eldest, short-statured female Thai server twice. For both times, she was RUDE and SARCASTIC! On our first visit, I tried to give her my orders (6 dishes) as I typed it on my phone - for her convenience - I thought I was being nice but it backfired on me! She said she doesn't touch people's phones (I was holding my phone and showing my list of orders to her!) On this particular (#3) visit, I ordered their soup, Tom yum with shrimp. I politely asked her if the shrimp has shells on it (some dishes, especially Asian dishes, do leave the shells on their shrimps). I was expecting a simple yes or no answer which would've been sufficient... Instead, she lectured me in a loud enough voice, that the other customers looked at our table! My mom controlled her temper to not answer her back and I, being younger than the server, just brushed off her rudeness! I didn't order much this time and our bill was $36 and I considered not leaving any tips at all but she hardly served us coz there were 2 other (Latina) servers who catered to us more than she did (and have much better attitude than her), so I thought the tips would be shared with them. It's too surprising to learn that this Thai lady has been serving there for over 30 years even though she clearly doesn't have a good customer service at all! It's time for...
Read moreI haven’t written a review about a restaurant in probably a couple years but this one I feel needs to be done. I visited this restaurant for lunch today and I ordered the yellow curry chicken dish that was $11. I got water and with the lunch special I was supposed to get a bowl of soup with my meal, the first thing that was delivered to the table was those little crunchy stringy things. Underneath the crunchy little stringy things in the bowl was trash. They were little pieces of plastic that were pulled off of what appears to be a plastic bag then shortly after the waitress came out with a salad, even though I didn’t order salad And she mumbled something under her breath as if she was giving it to me for free. When she brought me my water, there were slimy little specs of what appeared to be boogers on the side of my glass. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and wiped it off, thinking that it was maybe some rice that had smeared onto the glass when they had poured the water in the kitchen. Then my dish came with the soup when I got my bill it was $22 instead of $11. I eat out often and I know that sometimes people make mistakes but this place sucks. I didn’t argue Bill Because I had to leave in a hurry. But I will never...
