I've been in twice now with my son, who is super into Pokémon cards. I can't tell you how much it means to me for the owner and other staff to be engaged with my boy and just really feed into him with this hobby he has picked up. From the moment we walked in, the owner was asking my son questions, "what's your favorite Pokémon?" "Who's your least favorite?" The owner was just as excited about picking out packs of cards as my son was. If you are looking for a place that will treat your kiddos with respect and are willing to come to their level as far as enthusiasm and knowledge, look no further. We have been to so many other places that just write him off because he's a kid. Not at the Card Father. As far as I am concerned, this is the best card shop in the greater Columbus area! Even when we move in the next year, we will make the trip back to the Card Father simply for the way they treat you. Selection of new card packs is excellent, tons of pre-owned cards, and tons of graded cards in the case to complete your collection. Among all the cards, there are plushies and cool 3d printed items as well. We will keep coming back. Thanks again for doing what you do, and...
Read moreTook my two sons, and my older son's boyfriend, in today on a whim since we were in the area. Cozy is one way to describe the current space, but you have to start somewhere. As others have said, the owner, Gary, was very knowledgeable about the cards and about the current business of cards across multiple franchises.
We didn't buy much on this first visit, but even though the store is about 25 minutes away, my older son plans to bring some of his cards in for trade or sale or even, since this is a service they offer, evaluation of what he has.
Currently, the name is the lowest line on the door and not above the door so missed it the first time around the lot, but it is there and well worth the trip. They also have a small slection of console games ranging from SNES to Xbox One/PS4, as well as card supplies like binders etc.
My older son is in his 20s and he and Gary had a really good conversation about the state of several card franchises. But I also saw Gary talk to some young (8 - 12) customers and he was great with them as well. He is passionate about the topic, but unlike some collectibles stores I have been to, does not have that...
Read moreNot only did I come in today and was ignored I was standing with a few oversized cards and some bulk very very small amount WITH CASH in front near the front of the counter one other customer was in front of me but Gary the owner took another customer that was BEHIND ME. I came in once a good while ago and was ignored this was the first time and just brushed it off but today I was literally in front with cash in hand that was visible and was still ignored and he checked out someone that was behind me. There was another time Gary again the owner was talking about another review that was left that was someone saying they got lowballed I went in and hear Gary saying and I quote “I only low ball people I don’t like” talking with another customer. Me personally I will not be buying selling or trading cards from there there’s been too many bad experiences or just the owner being childish and literally gossiping about customers to other customers with customers...
