Skate America — Local services in Jackson Township

Please read before going or booking a party with them. This is a long post but definitely worth the read. Today was definitely the worst experience I have ever had with a business like this. Me & my family were there for a party and I had ordered extra food after being there for 10 minutes, at first I was told it would be 40 minutes which I had no problem with, they gave me a pager & I went about my time there. However an hour went by and still my order was not ready so I went to check on it & the young girl told me it would be done in another 15 minutes because it was in the oven, well another 30 minutes went past and still no food. I went up again and I was told they didn’t know how much longer it would be, keep in mind it was now after 3:00pm and they close at 4:00pm. I asked to speak with the manager about getting a refund and the manager Megan came and was very rude, she told me that she didn’t have authorization to refund me my money, that the owner would have to and he wouldn’t be in until tomorrow (Monday) I was not ok with waiting and I told her she needed to contact him, so she got nastier and said she would try after arguing with her for 10 minutes after I tried to be nice in the beginning but she can’t make any promises. Well after talking to one of the employees he told me the owner was deployed, so how would he be in tomorrow? It was a scam, she didn’t want to refund me my money. I truly believe she wanted to pocket it for herself. She hid for over an hour in the back and would not come up front. Well the cops came because I refused to leave until I got my money. The officer asked me what happened, I told him, The officer had to send one of the employees to go find her to make her come up front. She lied to them and told them she offered me my food over an hour ago & I refused & threw my pager at her. Which was far from the truth. Another women did that because she had the same issue happening as I did but was a lot less money then mine. I still had my pager in my hand and gave it to the officer. The officer also told me that they have been out there numerous times because this kind of incident keeps happening over and over again. Finally after 15 minutes of the cops talking to her she finally got on the register and “refunded me my money” that took literally 2 seconds to do. After looking at the receipt she gave the cops to give to me for the refund it doesn’t show the amount or anything like that, which is very odd. The cops said if I don’t get my refund on my card after a few business days then I have to go back up there with them to get my money. This place is a scam. The employees are all young teenagers who basically look at you like your dumb, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, toilets over flowing, no toilet paper, the games were eating the tokens so kids couldn’t play the games & wouldn’t give them more tokens, the skate were messed up, dirty, and broken, they didn’t even have the building opened at the right time so the parking lot was full of people standing around waiting to get in. Skate America is a great place to hangout with ur friends that’s staff are lowkey nice and helpful I mean they can seem like they’re in a bad mood sometimes but if I worked there and had to deal with little kids all day I wouldn’t be in the greatest mood either and their slushes are super good aswell as the pizza and I love their soft pretzels also I like how the do the different themes at different times and they have good music like it’s our teen songs it’s dope but anyway and the colors and the games and when they have roo come out it doesn’t really make me super happy bc I ain’t no little kid but it is pretty cute to see the little kids ride around with him like I when to my cousin bubbas birthday party and they had it there bc he’s taking skating lessons there and he turned 5 so wanted to have it there and he’s got a bunch of little kid friends like his age and they just loved it also the rink and stuff is all a little small but I’ve still always liked it like me and my friends and stuff have been going there for like 8 years probably it’s madd fun and I really like it and they stuff to get for tickets is also really kool to be able to get but I think they should lowkey lower some of the prices👇Thanks kiddos see u tonight...

Had a party here and unfortunately it didn’t go very well. I was told I could arrive 10 mins earlier to set up, however we couldn’t get in until the party time. Very unorganized, extremely chaotic upon arrival. Host (long dark hair younger girl) was very very rude. There was not enough skatemates for kids as promised. We paid for an upgraded party and which included cotton candy but the “person in charge of cotton candy was not available” so we received 10 cotton candy packs AFTER the entire party left. We ended up giving it away.

My daughter was looking forward to her party here and I’m throughly disappointed in their organization.

Business Tip: Having roller skate tickets and everything that was paid for on the table upon arrival (except food) your process would go so much smoother. Also, allowing hosts to arrive 10 mins early to get organized everything would have gone 100% smoother. The audacity to check in every single kid for multiple parties at the same time and being stingy with tickets that were already pre-paid for was astounding and extremely time consuming.
