NE Jackson Revell Ace Hardware — Local services in Jackson

I'll admit that Ace Hardware is not my first destination for most of my home projects. I usually visit one of the big-box home improvement stores in my area. But I also make a beeline for Ace Hardware when the big-box stores fall short of my needs. I'm always impressed by the warm greeting from the person at the cash register, which also ask if I need help. In most cases, I'm looking for something unique, or it was simply unavailable at other stores. This is especially true for plumbing products, specialty Torx drivers, and screws/bolts. As I wander deeper into the store, an associate has been summoned by the cashier to greet me and assist with finding the items. The Ace Hardware associates seem to have memorized the entire inventory and always know what drawer contains the bolts or screws I'm looking for or what aisle to find the elusive sink drain tailpiece washer. I walked in the store on today 1/4/2021. And the employee working was checking someone out at the cash register. But the interesting part is there was no greeting even when he was done ringing them up. I purchased some gummy bears and asked about a couple of scooters displayed out front. I asked if they were used scooters since they had quite an accumulation of dust on them. He seemed surprised that I asked, but responded with 'they just don't have the manpower to get that done.' How long does it take to wipe a scooter down before putting it on display, not long at all. But he put my receipt on the counter, didn't ask if I needed a bag or anything. I told him to have a good day and that's when he said for me to do the same. This is why I'm rating this experience with a 1 which is the lowest on the scale I'm hoping. I don't like to think it's because of my race but it makes me wonder sometimes here in the good ole state...

The Staff at Ace Hardware went above and Beyond to help me out today and I am so grateful that I felt I have to share my story. I came in with a broken drawer and I was missing the hardware that was necessary to repair it. A staff member Sunny tried to help me first and when she couldn't come up with a solution she brought in another worker, Adrien, to help. He soon realized this would have to be an unconventional repair job because none of the hard ware matched the missing pieces on my drawer. Adrien spent nearly an hour helping me and finally he fixed my drawer for me and asked for nothing in return.
