Iâve got to say I tried Crazy Cat for the first time ever today. Wow I canât believe I have never tried this place before. It is truly a hidden jewel the food was so full of flavor it blew me away! First I had the Tomato/ Basil and Brie Soup/Bisk it was super creamy with a rich taste from the Brie and a wonderful fresh tomato and basil finish! Next I had the crawfish Tamale bites. Oh my word, these things taste like they where made in heaven. They had a wonderful outer crust that seemed to be perfectly seared on a cast iron pan I bet. The then the inside was a delightful combination of perfectly cooked corn masa mixed with a wonderful bouquet of spices and plenty of plump crawfish tails! The tamale bites where perfectly moist on the inside and had a super thin but crisp outside. They where served with the perfect accompaniments a tangy comeback like dressing and pickled red onions (those red onions where amazing when you put some of them on top of each bite! Next I had the Caramelized Onion BLT! Think about a pile of perfectly crisp smoked bacon on a focaccia bread bun a top caramelized sweet onions, Tomato Jam and the perfect leaf of romain lettuce. It was a sinful treat and super rich with flavor. The service was top notch that is for sure and the prices where very reasonable. I plan to go back again and again I want to make my way through the whole lunch menu and then move on to the Dinner...
Read moreI was one of the first people in shortly before they opened at 11 and they seated me right away. Service was excellent.
The meal was underwhelming, though. I asked for sweet tea; they don't serve it. The menu was smaller than I expected with most of it being sandwiches and salads. I chose the chicken and sausage jambalaya which was the only part of the meal that was good. It was actually quite good. That comes with a side salad. I requested ranch; they don't have ranch. I went with sweet balsamic. It was thick and didn't seem like a balsamic to me. The salad was served on the same plate. Eh, whatever. But it had maybe one cherry tomato and a quarter of a slice of cucumber and maybe five tiny shreds of cheese. It was real basic. The French bread was bland, so I dipped it in jambalaya to try to liven it up. With a tip, it cost almost $19 and i got water in a glass. It just wasn't worth that much. If it had cost about five dollars less, I would have gotten what...
Read morePreface: the food is INCREDIBLE!
Our first thoughts upon our 1st experience is that the venue is drab and uninviting. The staff were accommodating tho. We had brunch, and while the menu was albeit limited for brunch, the food was spectacular!
Inside the restaurant left a little to be desired. For a place called "Crazy Cat" it was rather a domesticated atmosphere. It was unusually slow for a rather great cuisine experience. I blame the drab decor and location, but the chef clearly knows his stuff.
Note: they don't serve sweet tea, which for a restaurant in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi was a complete and total shock.
Overall, the food is DEFINITELY worth the visit. Just don't expect any vibe whatsoever, becuase it doesn't exist. Food: 6/5, Staff: 3.75/5, Atmosphere: 1.5/5. Overall 3.75/5 heavily weighted by the absolutely...
