Used the self check out #20. As I was completing my purchase. The cash register blacked out. Then my receipt came out after the cashier came over and it said that the purchase was completed but that the gift card I was purchasing wasn't activated. She then sent me to customer service. The customer service agent said that register always shuts down while in use and started laughing. I waited over 30 minutes for a manager, 2 showed up and both laughed about the register 20 always shutting down. They said they couldn't prove that the purchase was completed and I showed them that I had been taken out of my checking account. I asked for my money back or a activated gift card. They called the number on the gift card I purchased and the said it was not activated and they didn't know how to activate and they couldn't give me a refund. They then claimed that they called their card services and it would be refunded in 7-10 days however NONE OF THE SO CALLED MANAGEMENT OR CUSTOMER SERVICE HAD ON NAME TAGS AND THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME THIER NAMES. THEY WERE EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I LEFT KROGER WITH OUT MY GIFT CARD OR A REFUND. IF A BUSINESS IS GOING TO USE SELF CHECK OUTS THEY SHOULD ENSURE THAT THEY PROBABLY WORK AND HAVE KNOWLEDGEABLE EMPLOYEES WHO KNOW HOW TO FIX OR REFUND CUSTOMERS WHEN THE BUILDING REGISTER GOES OUT AND NOT TREAT THE CUSTOMER LIKE ITS THIER FAULT. IF THE BUSINESS HAS DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT THEY SHOULDN'T CONTINUE TO LEAVE IT AVAILABLE AS A SELF CHECK OUT TO UNWITTINGLY BE USED AND MESS UP A CUSTOMER'S PURCHASE. Synie, the cashier, was very rude to me and talking down to me because my items were not ringing up for the correct price. I had pre-scanned some of the items and it read āsee an associateā and some of the other items were ringing up for the wrong price. When I questioned this cashier, she replied in a hurried, matter of fact, and sarcastic tone. She would say do u want it or not? Before I could answer her she would put the item to the side and grabbed the next item. This process went on for 3-4 items. Again, with the next item, she had a matter of fact tone saying do u want it or not? I tried to ask a question but she would say I donāt have anything to do with what itās ringing up for with a nasty tone. Do u want it or not? Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible customer service. I was in a rush to pick up a money order and get back to work and one of the ladies at guest care didnāt care at all about her job or the customers. There was a decent sized line with multiple people behind me. When I was the next person up in line and a spot at the counter opened up I walked up to the counter. When I did, one of the ladies, who had long light brown braids, coped an attitude saying to me that she didnāt say she was ready or call me up, and told me to back up behind the stanchions. Then, with several people waiting in line she told her coworker that she was taking a break to go to the restroom, but instead she went over to self checkout and chatted with her coworkers for a while. The funny part is that I could tell that she was power tripping over the fact that I took two steps forward without her permission. I worked in retail for a long time in the past so I know that it can be difficult to make time for breaks and that customers are often rude and demanding. However, she was the only one being rude and this was at 9:00am and the guest services desk doesnāt even open until 8:00.
