I'm giving 3 stars as it was an excellent experience initially (and an easy 5 star experience) until I checked out. Julian was excellent as he was very helpful and knowledgeable and showed me my options; however, when I checked out it took a turn for the worse, as another older lady who was very knowledgeable (I thought) as well advised me that the banana plant I was going to purchase needed full sunlight so I went with a Japanese Maple instead along with a Gardenia and a Ligustrum. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed a compost mix rather than potting soil which was fine but then said I also needed root establisher which I really wasn't sold on. She said, but it is mid July and you are trying to establish roots in Mississippi. So I just kind of ignored it and let her ring it up as they were going to close in 4 minutes and I didn't want to hold them up out of common curtsy. I then got home and the root establisher was open and it went everywhere when I took it out of the bag. All over a leather chair and some fairly nice Ralph Lauren shorts and I realized she didn't give me a receipt either. I felt as if she didn't give a receipt deliberately and was trying to pawn off the opened root establisher to me but I don't want to start throwing accusations around. TLDR: It started out great with an easy 5 star experience but really ended up much worse than the 3 stars I am giving. Happy with the plants I purchased but not happy about the opened root establisher that I really didn't want to begin with going all over nice furniture and clothes along with no receipt (most people would have given a 1 star review...
Read moreMy Christmas tree pre-order was an utter disaster. I received the form in the mail and submitted on 10/27. Went into the nursery to pay for tree before deliveries were to start. My form was there, so the team had received my order correctly. My order was for an 11 foot tree at a total of $708 with delivery. I received a tree that was maybe about 9 feet tall and was horribly small. A tree from Lowe’s or Home Depot would have looked better. I sent the tree back and cleared my schedule to go to the nursery that day. I would not have been upset if there were not larger trees on the lot, and nicer ones already tagged. I was told that they could not give me anyone else’s tree, which I did not ask them to. All I wanted was an 11 foot tree, as I had paid for. I was met with an apology, but no effort to fix the problem. In this economy, I will never beg anyone to take my money, especially when you don’t care about my business as a consumer. I opted for a refund and went to my bread and butter store in Ridgeland and received exactly what I expected! I am unsure of the purpose to pre-order trees when they are not fulfilled correctly. Maybe the process worked for others, but it did not work for me. I will never order again from Green Oak, so please remove me from future communications. I will be sure to not patronize either location for my household needs....
Read moreI'm leaving this review to complement the sales associate that helped me on the afternoon of October 8, 2025. As someone who knows nothing about plants, I was out of my depth and this young lady was extremely kind in helping me pick a gift for my wife for our anniversary.
In an age when it's so hard to find good salespeople, it really stood out to me how this place has staff that both knows the product and knows how to treat people right. I particularly appreciated that when I said "which of these three plants would YOU buy?", the sales associate explained the pros and cons of each in a manner that made sense and allowed me to seem like a thoughtful and caring husband when I showed up with the bromeliad she recommended.
This was the second time I've shopped for a gift plant here and the prior experience was equally enjoyable.
Edit: bromeliad and pot...
