I feel awful to have to say, I firmly believe pokemon cards are being weighed and/or tampered with at this location
And I'm not suggesting this as a result of buyers remorse. I've been a frequent visitor at this location, I only purchase pokemon cards. They keep their sealed booster packs out in the aisles for customers to grab and select their packs as they deem fit. Now this is the first and ONLY location that I've ever visited that does this. If you visit any other card store, sealed single booster packs from booster boxes are always placed behind the counter with the register attendee.
Unfortunately, every single time I've selected packs from these boxes, I've NEVER received more than 1 pull per purchase. This has not happened 1 time, or twice, or even 3x. And after each occasion when it happens, I tell myself I will only purchase sealed boxes from this location. However I refused to believe my trusted card store could be guilty of such wrongdoings, that I don't take my own advice, and make the mistake of selecting their single packs again. I just purchased 10 chilling reign booster packs, I received only. 1 holo rare pull. EVERY time I purchase single booster packs, and I ALWAYS purchase at least 8 packs, I always receivs no more than 1 pull which is always just a holo rare....
If this happened once, I'd say bad luck. But this is EVERY SINGLE TIME! it's upsetting spending around $50 per visit, and leaving with this outcome EVERY SINGLE TIME!! I FEEL DUPED!!
If anyone sees this, I will be more than happy to speak to someone about my experiences. It's sad, but I do have to belive that either a worker is tampering the booster packs, or since the packs are accessible to customers, there are customers that are weighing and/or tampering with the product behind the workers backs.
EDIT: boy do I feel attacked lol. Notice I did not make ANY direct accusation, hence my choice of words, and the attempt to suggest multiple possibilities like internal tampering or external. I was not accusing anyone directly, just merely sharing my experience which has been consistent for EVERY purchase and my personal suspicions. I suppose the main problem I have is the fact that the booster boxes with the seald single packs are displayed on the sales floor. Now whether or not you personally belive that's the best place to display pokemon single booster packs is merely just your opinion and not a fact that your choice is the best option. However, I promise you, you can visit every single trading card shop in jacksonville, and I can guarantee you will not find not ONE other retailer that displays their single packs the same as you do.... that's all I'm saying. Going by the fact that you had to do research on pokemon cards, and tampering and weighing etc, and the fact that your store focuses more on games like MTG and role play games and your employees have said to me many times that pokemon isn't really the stores focus, maybe there's a strong possibility, that You're not as knowledgeable on pokemon card sales as some of the other retailers. And again since not 1 other shop in jacksonville would EVER place their sealed single booster packs on the sales floor for customers to access, maybe just maybe your opinions and reasoning for their placement, isn't the most logical and knowledgeable one. That's all I'm saying. As a manager, there's no need to attact my credibility for sharing MY personal...
Read moreSo i have not gone to the location in a long time. I called ahead to make sure they were doing a pre-release event for magic.. Upon arrival there was an odor to the store, the staff was abbrasive. But that all was fine sometimes someone just has a bad day.
I registered for the event and paid 10$ more then other stores for the event which was very odd. Upon the event starting we were notified the prizes were going to go to top 4. After opening packs i realized i wouldn't be able to win a very good deck it might win one or two rounds but not top 4 good..so because the prize pool was for top 4 i dropped early.
Come to find out the one running the tournament was also participating in it. (He wasn't doing well). Well after last round before top for, the one who was running it calls out 'there has been a change prize packs are now 1 per win.'
This is very unprofessional and rude cause many people dropped cause they wouldn't be able to get to the top 4 so they didn't have a chance at prize so they didn't participate. Yet now they and i could have gotten packs for just getting atleast 1 win.
I find it interesting that this change to the prize pool was convenient for the worker who was in the tourney. Since even though he did badly up to the last round still walked away with packs.
Someone who is running an event tournament should not also be a participant.
There were also people who did not get a chance to even enter and try because the staff allowed some participants to buy upwards of 4-5 entries. So people tonight 1/17/2020 and tommorow 1/18/2020 will not be able to participate in the event because staff let their friends buy in excess of kits.
I would recommend anyone interested to go to other stores for any and all product.
The owner and management have a sign up defending their price gouging on all their products from d&d to magic to miniatures. A small difference isn't an issue with most lgs but FLGS will charge double a products value from any other local store or online prices. The msrp on alot of products are reasonable but this store has charged 80$ for a product that's msrp was 35$ this is outrageous and it is a very common occurrence.
Again to any interested i suggest you go to Vortex, Dan's, or emerald dragon you will fins better pricing, better customer service and better staff. I am still appalled at how they handle issues at...
Read moreBy far worst place I have been to hands down. Never attempt to do events here specially prerelease events. The employees do not communicate with one another at all. Tried to play in a prerelease came in earlier and asked if the event was still going on for today the lady said yes, I asked if we could pay early to guarantee my spot. I was told if you were already registered online that you have a spot and don’t have to pay ahead. I asked again are you sure and she reassured me yes you’re good. All lies went to the event 5 mins before it started and was told flat out sorry we only have enough for 8 people. I explained what I was told and the person that was working for the event “ Justin “ looked dumbfounded and like a deer in headlights. Tried to call the person who was working earlier and could tell a problem was rising. 10 mins later after a few phone calls supposedly done I was told sorry we could offer you a gift card. That’s just a spit in my face due to the fact I was in there earlier and was told I would be fine if I was on the list,, clearly not the case. Still the best part told me not to worry bout paying ahead. If you ever do decide to do a event make sure you pay in advance and don’t listen to the employees or else you won’t be able to play. I was told that they sent a email out a hour to a hour and 15 mins before the event on the app but I never got anything. Love all...
