I love cool stuff games! Definitely one of the best card/game stores in Jax. I come here all the time for all sorts of things, from selling my cards to buying theirs, picking up online orders, and playing Friday Night Magic.
The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. They are easy to talk to and laid back. You can literally walk up to an employee and start talking about games or cards on the fly and they'll understand you and carry the conversation...just as if they've been your friend for years!
They have snacks and drinks for purchase with affordable prices. Prices are very cheap for practically all trading cards. Generally, pack prices are from $2.59-$2.99 depending on the set, which makes it an awesome deal.
You get the packs straight from the booster box which is behind the counter, so you know customers haven't tampered with the merchandise.
They have a wide assortment of board/tabletop games from every conceivable genre. It's practically unmatched.
The events and game nights are usually very busy. They have tons of tables to sit down, but it can get a little overwhelming when it's your first time playing there.
The customers are also helpful and understanding of a new player's situation. You don't usually see that at game stores anymore.
When you want to sell cards to them, you make a sell list on their website from their in-store computers. You receive a 4-digit code at the end step to give to them. This order number allows them to see what you're selling so they can verify the card's condition, set number, quantity etc.
Sometimes I have a small hiccup with this method. They couldn't see my order two separate times after giving them the correct order number, so I had to redo it each time.
Also, I check the website at home to see what cards they're currently accepting. By the time I reach the store, the website updates their list and are not accepting some cards anymore. It's not that big of a deal considering it's one to two...
Read moreMade a trip from Lake City to Jacksonville 75miles to sell my collection of YuGiOh trading cards because I read online that this company had good reviews. It was truly a wasted trip. I called about 5 times over the week before making the trip to make sure that I had everything in order with the cards, they were separated, organized etc. almost 4000 cards I went through adding to their buy list and putting them in order and when I got to the shop the employee stated to me that they should be in some kind of different order and that it would take him hours to get it finished. I was told that if I got to the location before 10:00 pm that they would get through all my cards and have them completed. The employee that helped me only got through like 50 cards and refused to do anymore at 11:00pm. Basically sent me home with the rest of my cards that I had priced all online for hours on their website the whole week. I asked if I could leave my cards so they could finish going through them and just send me a check and he said he wouldn’t do that. I won’t be coming back to this location and I regret making a trip over to see them at Cool Stuff Inc. I’m pretty sure I’ve received better customer service at GameStop. Keep your cards guys, don’t waste your...
Read moreJust left the Brilliant Stars Pokémon TCG prerelease which was completely awful. We got 1 box. The last box. And we were maybe 8th and 9th in line. The no limit killed the event. I wouldn’t be surprised if people find better managed care shops that handle these events more fairly. Not the staff’s fault either. Whoever made the dumb decision not to limit for a prerelease is to blame if the shop loses business because people can’t trust that the events will be handled well. There needs to be clear lines as people were trying to skip ahead in line by going to the second register to get ahead of people who had been waiting since before opening. Vortex over in Orange Park handled the release much better. They got less stock so they limited it to 1 per person instead of 2. Tailoring the limit to the stock of the store to make sure scalpers can’t buy all of the stock shows that a business really belongs in...
