This is the preferred grocery store of both me and my husband. The prices are very reasonable and the meat department is outstanding. Every week, or perhaps several times a week (I couldn't say for sure since I only go grocery shopping once a week,) they will have a sale on different meats bought in bulk, or in other words, packaged in extremely large size quantities. Buying these bulk size meat packages at a reduced price (a very impressive sale price!) can save you a lot of money on your grocery bill every month if you take advantage of this particular sale faithfully. The nice thing is, you don't have to take a 20 lb package of hamburger meat home and repackage it yourself into usable quantities. Instead, just ask one of the nice butchers in the meat department if they would please package your meat according to your desires and directions. There are many times we will go in there and buy a bulk package of ground hamburger or ground chuck and ask them to please cut and repackage it into approximately 1 pound packages. Yet we still get the cheaper price for buying the bulk package. We have also bought pork chops and other meats this way and I continue to be amazed by the amount of money we are saving by just this one feature of Edwards Cash Savers. Their other products are also very affordable, definitely below the average prices at other grocery stores. We seldom shop anywhere else unless we just happen to be near a store when we're away from home and need some type of grocery item right that moment. If I have any complaints there's only one that I can think of, and that is the checkout registers. Sometimes they understaffed, and you have to watch very closely as they ring up your purchases to make sure you are getting the correct price as posted on the shelves, or if it's on sale, to make sure you get the price indicated in the sale paper. Other than that, it's a great store to shop in. It beats the heck out of shopping at Walmart in my humble opinion, especially where the meat is concerned. Edwards definitely offers a much higher quality meat product than any other place I have found locally. The store is on the older side, I remember over the last 30 years it has been in the hands of several different owners, almost all of them grocery stores. At one time it was Knight's, it was Food Barn, Food 4 Less, and so forth. So it's not a spic and span, sparkling clean, brand new store to shop in, but it is not dirty either. It's just old and a little on the worn side. But that's okay, that's probably one of the things that helps contribute to the lower prices. If you haven't shopped there before, I definitely recommend that you try it. Oh, one thing you don't want to miss is their smoked brisket. If you're lucky you will arrive when they have just set some fresh cooked brisket out on a rolling rack just outside the door of the meat department. It's a little pricey if you buy it freshly-cooked, but it is so delicious and you save so much money on your other items that it is definitely worth it as far as I'm concerned. splurge on one of the packages of freshly cooked brisket to munch on as I do my shopping. Of course, hang on to your package so you can pay for it! You can also buy brisket that has been cooked and refrigerated at a cheaper price than the cooked brisket. I believe this also allows customers using EBT cards to take advantage of this delicious concoction. Just take it home and either pop it in the microwave or wrap it in some foil and put it in the oven at a low to medium temperature for a short period of time to rewarm it, and you will have the beginnings of a...
Read moreI'm very honest in my reviews based on my experiences. Although the prices are low I've had 3 problems here: 1) Bagging of my groceries. Ive had to bring bags back in because they way the food was thrown into my bag damaged my food. Ive had bags thrown in my cart nearly upside down, or the bag is split down the side, Ive had to re-bag at my car. Ive had bags fall apart spilling contents. I wish there wasn't a bagger at all because the cashiers tend to bag better. The bagger talks so much to the cashier about his personal life that I barely have the opportunity to interrupt their conversation to ask for help removing my groceries from the cart because I suffer from chronic back pain. 2) No express lane. Evenings if you need only one or two things and you're in a hurry, end up waiting in a long line behind full carts. 3) Produce often looks terribly old, except for the bananas. Produce I buy is often garbage a day or two after buying. Many times I pass on purchasing produce here. I cant afford to buy my family lettuce and throw it out the next day.
I could handle problem #2 and 3 but the bagging thing? I am looking for a better grocery store. I've only put up with it because I struggle...
Read moreThat place is a mad house. Not only is it ran into the ground. But I've witnessed employees dropping fresh meat on the floor just to pick it up and wrap it and put it on the shelves. Have you ever looked at the ground meat, it turns within days because they grind up meat that's already turning or out of date to make the ground beef. If you stand next the the employees you can smell them and how they arent bathed or caring about any personal hygiene, yet they are back there touching your raw meat. Not to mention half the time the stickers dont reflect sale prices. Employees are rude and lazy. Can't ask them anything. Over heard a big girl in the frozen dept telling their manager how the freezers weren't freezing and the ice cream was melting just for the manager to tell her to put it in the back of the freezer. Theres alot of issues up there and it all starts with the manager's. Store manager and dept manager's should be reevaluated. Maybe if they gave a damn about their store or employee, it would be a better place untill then I won't give them a penny and...
