Awful experience overall. Appt at noon; In my car at 1:30. I was told on the phone that they like 1.5 hours for a new patient so .... I didn't take any more time than allotted. I have difficult hair. The stylist who cut my hair was quite lovely and tried really, really hard with my very, very thin, fine hair. Another stylist gave advice unasked for but appreciated ... at first .... but she said that "we can't spend 3 hours deciding what to do." When I asked about shaving the sides? She said: "You won't like it. From the woman I see sitting here, you won't like it". #1 I'm stereotyped as boring???. #2 She has no idea that I'd like. I asked if she'd like to tell me what type of music I like. She doesn't know me. She offered an excuse that she didn't want to take responsibility if I hated it. That is not her job. If I ask for something, it's MY responsibility. And it's just hair. It grows back thank goodness because I look like someone growing hair back after chemo.
Her parting words: Go get it shaved then .... just don't do it here.
So I did ... at a different salon after my doctor's appt. The stylist said she wished she'd gotten to me first but she'd fix it. She re-shaped the top and the sides and back are tight but not shaved. It looks much more stylish and I really like it. Great salon and I already have an appointment to go back in 6 weeks.
I went to my doctor this morning and when he asked: "What happened to your hair?" That's a clear signal that it wasn't a good cut.
Update: 06/27/24. Very satisfied with hair after 2nd appt at different salon with a younger stylist. The "lady" at Mac Hair should remember the adage that "the customer is always right". It's not her job to tell me how I want...
Read moreI scheduled an appointment on 1/5/19 with Maggie Ricketson to remove temporary Halloween blue dye and to color all my hair dark brown. I specifically asked to have the blue strands bleached before dying my hair brown in order to ensure all of the blue is removed. However, she proceeded to tell me that bleaching the hair first would take too much of her time. Therefore, she suggested to just dye all my hair dark brown and stated that it will cover the blue without bleaching it first. Within a couple days after my hair appointment the blue returned completely and now I am back to where I was but $220 less in my pocket. I called the manager, Margaret Misenar, to ask for a refund to be able to have someone else remove the blue out of my hair like I originally asked for. However, she rudely told me how it was my fault for putting blue in my hair and that although dark brown should cover the blue, it is part of my consequences for putting blue dye in my hair. Therefore since it is my fault and part of the consequences of using “direct dyes,” she stated she will not refund any portion of the payment.
Update: I posted this review on all their social media/review websites. They proceeded to delete the ones that they had the...
Read moreA+ salon located in the beautiful San Marco area. From the minute you walk in the door, your day takes a turn for a superlative experience on all levels. Margaret, owner of this full-service boutique salon, is by far one of the most trend-setting and fabulous stylists I have ever met. Her salon is beautiful, great staff and team of stylists, her product selection is carefully selected for each guests individual needs and total hair health and beauty. I have shoulder length blonde hair and recently decided to go platinum – she is simply the best! Her education, experience, and knowledge as a colorist/stylist are better than any salon I’ve visited from LA to Dallas, and now my home here in Jacksonville. I now schedule my social schedule around my hair salon visits, as I can’t wait to truly “show off my hair.” I’m a luxury realtor and have always had high standards for hair salons – at last . . . a salon that truly is a “head above the best!” I’ve never looked better and I owe it all to Margaret!! It also goes without saying, that when we look good, we feel good, and we perform at our best . . . thank you Margaret for all that you do and to a...
