Kava & Company - San Marco — Restaurant in Jacksonville

This was our first time at a kava/non-alcoholic bar. We didn’t actually realize that’s what it was because we were actually looking for a coffee shop and this place came up with good reviews so we went.

First, parking is in the paid surface lot across the street that does not have handicap parking. I wish this was clearly explained on the website or About info on Yelp/Google rather than a small sign on the door.

We walked in and immediately noticed it was quite warm inside with no air conditioning. It was 85 outside. The bartender greeted us. We said it was our first time and she just handed us menus and walked away. We sat down and decided on a drink and she came to the table and took our order. We just ordered iced lattes since that was what we originally came for. She asked what milk we wanted and whether it was here or to go but did not ask what size we wanted (this will come up later). Drinks came and my husband said again that it was our first time and asked what the place was all about. So she gave a brief explanation of kava and the other leaf based tea and a little about the business and then left again. It just felt like we got the bare minimum and if we didn’t “get” it, it probably wasn’t for us.

Iced lattes were ok. Not the best we’ve had and not the worst. They use Torani syrup, which is not my fave. I had to go up to the bar to ask for the bill and when I got it I realized she charged us for the larger/more expensive size.

The patio looked nice and the bathroom was clean, if a little cramped in the stall.

If you are into kava/CBD/etc and you don’t mind a warm environment without A/C you might like this place. I appreciate the idea and we might try the Mandarin location but between the parking and heat we won’t be back to...

Kava and Company is hands down the best kava bar I've ever been to. Every aspect - the drinks, the atmosphere, the service - makes this place shine as my absolute favorite.

Chelsea stands out with her knack for whipping up drinks that perfectly match your mood and taste- she is the QUEEN of craft kava-tails. Her warm, welcoming demeanor instantly makes you feel right at home. The whole team embodies service with genuine smiles, adding to the already inviting environment.

Being a first-timer for kava and kratom, I found their staff extremely knowledgeable, patiently answering any questions. They made me feel comfortable, never making me feel out of place for asking. Since my first visit in March 2023, I've become a regular. Both my sober buddies and those who enjoy a drink have accompanied me, and every single one of them has been charmed by the experience.

There's indoor and outdoor seating that includes lawn games, pool, foosball, etc. It's also kid-friendly; my 3-year-old daughter had the time of her life sipping on her strawberry smoothie and playing with the variety of games available. The community vibe is genuine; every visit makes me feel like I'm amongst friends and I have cultivated so many healthy new friendships! Everyone here is so friendly and pleasant.

After moving to Jax, and looking for a place to be out and about in public after an isolated day of remote work, I Discovered this place in February 2024. I have been a loyal customer ever since. Kava and Kratom is an amazing substitute of alcohol and coffee, and the cocktails they make are outstanding. There are a couple places in Jax but none compare to this place. Mainly because of the staff and the amount of space. Whereas the one on Jax Beach is dark and blasts really loud music, this place has the dive bar vibe inside, the social pool table area outside, and then the quiet peaceful garden outside. There’s spots for people to socialize and then for people to work/read which I really appreciate. The quiet garden is my favorite.

Not to mention the staff! All are amazing. But the standouts are Sieda, Scarlet, Abby, Luke and Dan. There all so friendly and always enjoy saying hi to them. Scarlet is super funny and motivated popping around the bar to make sure you’re all set with drinks. Dan is just an amazing guy to talk to and hilarious. Abby from New Hampshire is always super cheery. And Sieda is super nice and creative with how she runs the place!
