Greetings, Sometimes reviews are noticeably fake and annoyingly generic. It is in that spirit that I will explain to you all why this is a great place and how it has affected my life. I am not fresh out of high school. I joined the Marine Corps in 2005 and after a lifetime of experiences, I wanted to share some of them with the next generation. Sadly, my attempt to do that had hit the skids until I talked with Matthew over at Illinois media school Ohare campus. He didnât even have to sell me nearly as hard as the Marine Corps recruiters! I am very happy that I am a current student early in my program of digital media. I have been working on my podcast and YouTube development for a long time and while my content is great, my production value is of no consequence and compared with all the flashy videos out there it was basically junk. In todayâs click culture where everyone surfing the web has a longer attention span than my 10 year old self with ADHD⌠prior to Ritalin and adderall ! All jokes aside, I was feeling pretty down because the daunting task of learning how to edit and record and then turn it into something that wouldnât be laughed was seeming like a foregone conclusion that I would be forced to live out my days with only Russian chatbots following me while filling any real subscribers feeds with how to lose weight videos or how to make a quick buck really easy! Fast forward to the present! I have just finished the first learning block and I have already learned more from my in-the-field- right now instructors than I did from a semester at a traditional 4 year college. I had to do an audible double take when I recognized the names and definitely the station and shows that the knowledgeable staff do in their ârealâ lives! Trying to follow tutorial videos on YouTube just does not compare with someone sitting next to you, patiently telling you over and over how to do something when you forget every time!!! So if you are wanting to pursue a career in the media field, this is the place to go. Donât go get a 4 year degree in broadcast journalism or communication or networking or English. I wish I had been told about this before I wasted so much time, energy, and hard earned money on education that I have never used. 155 accredited college credit hours from around the country later, and this is the best experience I have had yet. If this isnât enough, you need to go talk to the respected leader at ohare campus which is Ruth. I am no one special but she knew my name the first time she saw me and takes an interest in the wellbeing and current lives and futures of everyone that is willing to be a part of the team.l over here, students and instructors. If leadership is great usually the rest of the situation is great. So listen up! I have already made these mistakes for you to learn from! To prove to you that I am a trustworthy source just google âsewing machine marine WGN Chicagoâ. I am a veteran that does charity outreach for addiction and homelessness and stopping veteran suicides, so you can trust me ! Hahahaha come check it out. You wonât be disappointed.. The real life job opportunities are literally on the board on the wall right around the corner!! Take care and I hope to see you...
Read moreI cannot express how grateful I am to be a part of Illinois media school (OâHare campus)From the moment I stepped onto campus, I felt welcomed and supported by an incredible community dedicated to student success. The admissions department deserves special recognition for their unwavering assistance and encouragement throughout my application process. They made everything seamless and were always available to answer any questions I had.
One of the standout features of Illinois media school is the exceptional faculty. I have had the privilege of learning from some outstanding instructors, particularly Dustin Keith and Dennis, Kevin. Their passion for teaching and genuine investment in their students' success is evident in every class. Dustinâs engaging teaching style and in-depth knowledge have made a significant impact on my learning experience, especially as I pursue my second program with a sports emphasis. His ability to connect with students and make complex topics accessible is truly commendable.
Dennis and Kevin is equally remarkable, bringing a wealth of experience and insight to the classroom. There supportive approach has fostered an environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and explore their interests. Together, they have created a dynamic learning atmosphere that encourages growth and collaboration.
Furthermore, I cannot overlook the contributions of our director, Ruth. Her involvement in the school is palpable, and she is always available as a resource for both students and faculty. Ruth's dedication to the success of every student is inspiring, and her leadership has undoubtedly made Illinois media school a better place to learn and grow.
In summary, my experience at Illinois media school(OâHare Campus)has been nothing short of transformative.    Read moreI attended the Illinois Media School in Lombard and completed both the Radio & Television Broadcasting program and the Sports Emphasis program. The biggest thing that I would emphasize about the school is that you truly get out of the program what you are willing to put in. Students are required to complete studio hours in order to graduate, but those who go above and beyond the required hours are the ones who benefit the most. When I started at the school, I had never used Adobe Audition or Premiere and I had never run a Facebook live show or done a radio show. By the time I graduated, not only was I using these programs and doing multiple shows a week, but I was also teaching other students how to do the same. I graduated with the most studio hours in my class and all of those hours helped me improve my skills and my confidence so that I could teach others. During the RTB program, I was doing a radio show once a week, helping with a Facebook live show twice a week, and calling play by play for various sports at colleges like University of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Chicago State University, among others. I wanted to take advantage of every opportunity that I could, whether it was camera work, directing, or being on air. Getting those experiences in the RTB program gave me an advantage over other students when I started Sports Emphasis. The same thing applies to the emphasis programs too. The more time and effort that you put into the projects, the more you will learn from the program. The instructors are industry professionals and are willing to help you out if you are willing to put in the time. There are countless opportunities to get hands on experience, you just have to be willing to put in the time. So, if you are willing to put in the time and effort and take advantage of the opportunities that the school offers, then I highly recommend attending the Illinois Media School. However, if you just want to do the minimum and not put in any time outside of class, then this school is probably...
