Always wanted to go in and check out what they have. Noticed they were having a moving sale, so I figured why not! Found a pretty nice piece of furniture that said it was a Vintage Teak Wood Cabinet from Denmark. Had similar features of typical Danish pieces. Straight lines, featured the wood patterns, good "stain" etc. But upon a second look I noticed it was made out of plywood. Nonetheless I offered cash for the piece for what I felt was fair considering it was made of plywood with a wrap of some sort, had water stains all on the interior and top of "bar area", was missing a shelf on the interior cabinet, the back panel was flimsy and loose, and had a huge indent/scrape on the right door. I offered $500 and was rejected immediately. It had nice sliding glass doors. That was about the only great feature of this piece. I hope you nothing but the best of luck selling that piece for $795 after you move. 3 stars lives up...
Read moreAs an avid antiquer for decades, I've watched brick and mortar antique malls and stores dry up as internet selling takes over. What malls are left are often filled with junk or new stuff. Be prepared to be impressed by Three Stars. The sizable new location on Milwaukee has easy street parking and is worth a 20-30 minute visit easily. While the store is packed with quality mid-century furniture (this is your place if you need coffee, end or buffet tables) and art, it's also beautifully curated. Each piece is priced fairly (these are good pieces, so don't expect thrift store prices) and tagged with informative descriptions. Martin the owner was a pleasure to talk to and clearly takes delight in sharing his knowledge and love of antiques. Three Stars is also a few doors down from several great vintage clothing shops. Read moreUsed to stop by their old location, just to browse and look through all the cool things... Recently I walked up on the new spot and I was happily surprised. Didn't expect to find such a gem, but I ended up leaving with a Canon ftb manual camera set, including lenses, lens filters, cases for everything, two camera straps, even the original receipt from the 70s when it was purchased (new, I presume). The owner is such a nice dude, I always have a cute lil convo with him. He brought down the price a bit when I was telling him I was really considering it. It was a 'yes' even if it wasn't tested to work. Found it in time for a trip, super excited to develop all the rolls I shot. I gush about my camera to anyone who will listen as it works perfectly....
