I’ve edited this review a few times to try to make it more coherent as I recognize that my frustration with this situation has caused me to ramble. I hope this is more straightforward. I try to make it a habit to only leave positive reviews and if I visit a place that I didn’t like, I just don’t go back. My experience here, however, left me feeling really wronged and unheard, which is confusing because I booked here since they had so many positive reviews. I am not a local to the area but was in town visiting family when I went to book a balayage appointment here. After my hair was bleached and revealed, I expressed that I did not like the color and it looked too yellow. She toned it and upon that reveal, it looked better, but I still wasn’t super thrilled with it. I tried to be polite and just decided it was an L for me, I didn’t feel comfortable saying anything a second time after she’d already tried to fix it. I tried to be polite, paid for hair, nails + tip for nail gal and left. Once home, I discovered the extremely harsh and unblended crown all the way around my head. I slept on it, styled it, restyled it. I felt awful about it. Got called Friar Tuck by my spouse lol. I ended up calling the salon the day after the service because I was going to get it corrected by another salon and wanted to discuss a partial refund. I’d paid $250 for a service that I felt did not look good and while I could feel “meh” about the color, I could absolutely not accept the harsh crown I’d discovered. I requested a partial refund of $140 from the $250 I had paid for the balayage- this $140 was the cost of the corrective service at a salon closer to me. I was told that they couldn’t issue a refund since it was the weekend and something about the computer system… I said that I wasn’t in a hurry and they could just wait to refund me during weekday hours. Then I was told I had to do the refund in person and in cash. I reminded them that I live hours away, as we had discussed during my service. I also pointed out that I paid with my credit card so I was confused on why I had to get a cash refund. I conceded and asked if I could have a family member pick up the cash since I’m far away. I was told no. I then agree to drive down in the next few weeks to get the cash refund and was told that it wouldn’t be $140, it would just be $100. It was excuse after excuse and by the second excuse, I felt they were just trying to make it as hard and as inconvenient as possible so I’d just drop it. They asked for me to text some pictures of my hair with the issues I’d discovered and we continued our convo via text (attached). They issued a $100 refund but I never was okay with anything less than the $140 it would cost me to have the corrective color service done. After getting feedback from other licensed stylists, I opened up a “not as described”chargeback dispute. While that is still ongoing, the statements I have received from this salon and CC company is that by paying for the service, I consented to my results. While I can begrudgingly accept that for the color I wasn’t too fond of, I cannot see how that is good or fair business practice when it’s not uncommon to discover issues after leaving the salon, as I did with the unblended crown all the way around my head. How can you consent to something you didn’t know was an issue until later after you’ve already paid? I really felt unheard and gaslit when I tried to explain I didn’t appropriately receive the balayage service I paid a lot of money for and would now have to pay more money to another salon to fix what should have been done right the first or even second time. It felt like since I wasn’t a local, I was being taken advantage of when they kept changing the reasoning behind why they couldn’t issue a refund when I called them. In the many years I have been having my hair done, I’ve never experienced anything like this. This has been an unfortunate learning lesson and I urge anyone to always really, really go over your hair before paying or you’re SOL if you find a...
Read moreSandra is amazing! I called her today around 1pm and asked if she could do a cut on myself and my daughter today? She did not hesitate. She asked when I wanted to do it? I told her it would only take me about 15 minutes to get there and she was able to see us at 1:45. We got there as she was finishing up her guest. Took only a few minutes for her to clean up and sanitize then my daughter was in the chair. My daughter was very indecisive about what she wanted done with her hair. She knew she wanted it short but not sure how to explain it. Sandra was very patient while trying to make sure she got what she wanted. “E” was still not clear about what she was looking for and Sandra took her time making sure “E” was happy. She was very pleased with the way it turned out. For myself, ever since I had COVID my hair has thinned out and broken off. I let Sandra know I like fixing my hair and braiding it. She understood & made it clear that I would need to cut it every 6-8 weeks for the length to look more even in order to avoid cutting it so short that I wouldn’t be able to do anything with it. She was also able to recommend a heat protector that should help avoid damage when I use heat. We went over the shampoos and conditioners I use which change often. I was glad to take her up on her recommendation. She is looking out for the health of my hair. Which is what I wanted when finding a new salon. I was happy to go ahead and schedule my next appointment. Finally, the search is over!...
Read moreSandra is, hands down, my favorite hair dresser that I have ever had. I have now come to her, a total of 3-4 times, I believe. Each time, so far, has just been for cuts. We are already scheduled for January though, and she is going to color my hair, and do some color correction for me. While I am embarrassed to publicly admit this, I am one of those women that uses box color. Needless to say, I have messed my hair up pretty bad from all of this. Sandra never once judged me over this. In fact, it was quite the opposite. She took the approach of educating me on how to truly care for my hair, going forward.
Unfortunately, growing up, I didn't have a mother around during some of the most important years that a young lady needs the influence of other women. So, I have just always done things myself, the best way I knew how. This hasn't been any different.
Anyway, like previously mentioned, I love the fact that Sandra is so willing to also educate me on how to keep my hair healthy, not just cut/color my hair and send me on my way. I believe that speaks volumes on the type of hairdresser she is. Not only that, but she has a super fun and laid back personality. I adore our time together when I am in her chair. She is super easy to talk to. We joke around, talk about life in general, and even have deep conversations. I really, truly appreciate her and I am so glad that I found her. I would 100%-10/10 recommend...
