My husband and I recently purchased a 5 bed house that we are updating the majority of light fixtures in. I wanted to like this place, but after my story you will understand why that is impossible. This is a review of 2 different days. On the first day I wanted to just do a quick walk through to make sure there were lights I was interested in. I brought my daughter in who has Down Syndrome with me. We were approached by a woman who was visibly horrified by my daughter and clearly thought a teenager could not walk through with me and not damage the entire place. My daughter clearly had no issues walking through with me. I decided after that ridiculousness that I would go again and not base everything upon one persons bad behavior. That was a mistake. On the second day I had been doing projects in my home/running errands. I was clearly not dressed "money" enough for them. One person spoke to me quickly and I was given a card and told to make an appointment. I proceeded to spend approximately an hour and a half in the store taking pictures of lights I did like to get feedback from my husband. During that time I observed a couple contractors come in and a couple of other people looking for their own lighting needs. Everyone else had someone spend time with them to help select lights, get information on light fixtures, etc. I was never even acknowledged again. People walked right by me pretending I did not exist. Horrible, horrendous place. I was left absolutely gobsmacked by the treatment my daughter and I received. It's clearly not just one bad apple in...
Read more“Entitled and Rude—Avoid Ken at All Costs” This place may have a great selection of lighting, but the service, especially from Ken, is downright appalling. It’s obvious he’s part of the family that owns the shop because no regular employee would get away with being so rude and entitled. Ken acted like he was doing me a favor by even talking to me. Every question I asked was met with an eye roll or a sarcastic remark. He clearly doesn’t care about the customers—just about his own inflated ego. It’s like dealing with a spoiled little brat who thinks he owns the world. For a family business claiming to value tradition and customer satisfaction, they’ve really dropped the ball. Avoid this place unless you want to be treated like an inconvenience rather than a customer. I find it amusing that the owner responded to my original review claiming it’s “fraudulent” because I’m based in the UK — as if people from the UK don’t travel or visit showrooms abroad. Let me set the record straight: I was physically at your showroom. I walked in, interacted with your staff, and saw everything firsthand. So before you accuse people of making things up, maybe double-check your facts.
Trying to dismiss genuine criticism by making baseless claims only reflects poorly on your business. Instead of addressing what was said, you chose to lie and deflect — not exactly a good look for someone running a company. If this is how you handle feedback, it’s no wonder others have similar...
Read moreMy fiancé and I are building a house and had to select every single light. We went to a few places before J&K and were starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the selections and were disagreeing on most. Then we came to JK and met Diane. She made the process so easy with her HONEST opinions. She tells it like it is and settled all of our disagreements quickly. If she did not like a light, she would tell us straight up. Or when it came time that I liked one light and my fiancé liked another... she would explain which one worked better. Or if neither worked, she’d quickly pivot to a 3rd option that usually worked much better with the flow of our house.
With Diane’s expertise, great recommendations, and honest opinions on each light, we were able to select every light in our house in 2 hours (we were looking for 2 weeks before coming here). It was very refreshing having a salesperson with such brutally honest feedback. By the end, we all agreed on every single light and there is not a single regret or second thought.
Save yourself some time and go...
