Just east of 6 corners at the edge of the nice neighborhood known as "Upper Bluff" and the Cathedral District, the family owned Sunshine Mart located on Ruby & Wilcox (NE corner) has become a proud staple of the community. The regular patronage of this business is wonderful, because the store, its ownership and staff are wonderful. I've been a customer for 15 years. The store caters to locals and passerbys with an excellent selection of basic groceries, freshly made sandwiches and a small deli, snacks & cold drinks, morning routines (coffee and newspaper(s), etc.), frozen and packaged food, etc., pet food, bagged ice, even live fishing bait, and some small household items all at reasonable prices, as well as tobacco & tobacco/vaping accessories at virtually the absolute cheapest prices in town (this is a WELL researched statement), even after the tax hike (fyi No alcohol sales). in fact, they have the most superb prices and customer service of any convenience store in Joliet, BAR NONE, whether relative to home owned, franchised, or corporate run chain convenience stores. Always well stocked, they will make certain they get what you need A.S.A.P. in the rare occasion they are out. They keep early to late hours 7 days per week. First off, the grounds are well kept, the Mart is always clean, storefront and inside. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to serve you with kindness & to meet your needs & generally remembers you after a couple of visits. The ENTIRE staff are jovial, kind, and extremely helpful, whether you're a first time customer or a regular for years. They are constantly improving with new additives, such as the above-mentioned addition of the deli and FRESH sandwiches about a year ago, and other deli delights like homemade pizza and non-canned/from scratch chicken salad, and homemade tuna-salad etc; all at reasonable prices. Sometimes they even have local, garden fresh veggies in the sandwiches such as tomatoes, etc., and occasionally they have fresh produce for sale. Mon - Fri you can custom order a sandwich down to the ingredients, seasonings, condiments, the type of bread, a sub or a club, etc. Delicious, large, and very inexpensive at 3.99! (little more for a 12" sub). Pizza is homemade and also good. I've bought things here that I've seen higher at Wal-Mar!t - No exaggeration! Not only will you find a surprising amount of items priced lesser than other convenient stores and small marts but a few prices compete with big box stores!!This is no average neighborhood corner-store - this is like stepping 30 years in the past, to the way things should be. You can order deli meat, cheese, etc. for yourself at reasonable prices to Jewel / Kroger / Wal-Mart. What they don't have you can get at Mitchells Butcher up the road. As above-mentioned SUNSHINE HAS THE CHEAPEST TOBACCO AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS IN TOWN. I have heard so many people swear by where they go having the cheapest cigarettes. I bring them here and they are always surprised. They sell a small amount of legal merchandise for "tobacco" use, and good selection of "vape" units and accessories. The beverages, chips/snacks and candy are a little high, but not compared to other convenience stores like 7-11, the Western Store, Walgreens, CVS (OMG!) and even Family Dollar and Dollar General. They also have name brand 2-liter soda pops for .99 to 1.19. As you can likely tell, I cannot say enough good things about this establishment! BTW they also have lotto, bill-paying (utilities) services, and one of the employees owns the cellular phone store next door which you can also pay your bill for multiple carriers or get a wide range of phones and plans, from good valued basic on up. All the people that work at the store are super friendly and very helpful in finding things I need I have been going to the store for over 32 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else they have a variety of different types of food and drink non-alcoholic they also have different types of knick knacks stuffed animals they have a variety of different types of everything they do not carry meat like a butcher but there is sandwich meat and...

Very nice convenience store, I believe it is family run. I can walk there from home and avoid over-crowded strip malls. They have a little bit of everything, but the best part is the super friendly staff / owners. Prices more reasonable than a 7-11 or similar stores. Their good moods put customers in good moods....
