Big Chill — Restaurant in Joliet

Let me start by saying I’m a Chicago influencer with over 150k followers on social media. Came here bc we were in the area. Ordered a burger, hotdog, cheese fries, and fried mushrooms. No flavor in anything. Burger was flavorless & topped with salad from the bag instead of fresh veggies- fresh lettuce, tomatoes, & onions weren’t even an option. Fries were burnt. Hotdog isn’t very complicated yet it arrived soggy- we were dine in. Mushrooms were decent. Dining area was dirty, almost every table was dirty, including seats. We stepped outside to eat at the outdoor tables in front- and staff came out smoking cigarettes where we are eating. Instead of stepping to the side of the building and having a little decency for customers who are trying to enjoy their food without cigarette smoke being blown in their face. Owner walked in and out- smiled at him both times while he ignored our presence & gave us dirty looks- in an empty restaurant. How odd & awkward. It was giving this restaurants is for whites vibes. That alone should’ve told us to leave but we already paid for our food. Told the person who took our order we were dining in & and they still packed our order to-go while just throwing it in the bag without care like we were animals. It's 7:53pm on a Monday night and something so unexpected just happened. I just dropped a friend off at the Joliet train station and decided to grab dinner on the way home. I stopped at a small place which I almost passed up called The Big Chill in Joliet IL. I took a few moments to look at the reviews and decided I wanted to try the meatball sandwich which was top rated. I ordered the sandwich with a side of sauce because I like everything extra saucy. I bit into this sandwich and was so delighted. The bread was crispy and buttery almost like garlic bread. The meatballs had sooo much flavor. No pre made meatballs here you can tell these are freshly made. Next, I dipped my sandwich in the marinara sauce and please know that I have had a glimpse of heaven!! Lastly the stretch of the melted cheese which I assume is Provolone, elevated my experience even more. This was just soo good! I will be back and I almost hate that this place is so close to where I live because I've been trying to un-big my back and this sandwich is totally dangerous to that goal. I normally don't write bad reviews and I know I only order the $10 (now +2.50 each topping), but to have to remind them not to burn my pizza everytime I call lately and still get it burnt the one time recently that I didn't say it, is rediculous. When the $10 special included 2 toppings, I got one every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Sometimes 2. (I hand some out to the homeless on the streets). Since,the special changed, I get 1, and most of the time it's burnt. I got a pizza last night for myself. I opened it and was disappointed. Half of it was very dark. I grabbed a slice from the other side. It was like rubber. I ordered it at 7:00pm (they close at 8pm) so I knew it hadn't been sitting for hours. The last few I got, when they did answer the phone after 7pm, were very good, but as I said, I didn't remind them not to burn my pizza this time. I have, in the past, told others how good it is.
