Towel City Tire — Local services in Kannapolis

I purchased a set of their Cheater Slicks for my Classic 1965 Chevelle two door sedan. I paid over $700 for the pair. The tires looked great upon arrival. However after mounting the tires. The runout was so bad from poor retread process. The tires took between 4-6 ounces of weight to balance. I called and spoke to Dan. He told me that was normal it was ok to use them. Then after maybe 100 miles. A split began to show itself across the entire width of the right tire. Again, I called and spoke to Dan. He explained that was normal as a splice from the recap process. This split in the tread continued to get worse. At about 150 miles at slow speeds. You could feel the rear of the car move back and forth for the poor runout of the tires and I decided to replace the tires as I do not feel they are a quality retread tire or safe to use. Rear quarter panels are becoming very hard to come by for a 1965 Chevelle so I figured I would cut my losses and replace the tires. I am the 2020 winner of New Tires for a New Year giveaway. I have past experience ( in my younger days) in tires as I was certified in wheels & tires, brakes, alignment, suspension and diagnostics. Just the level of quality and workmanship in this shop is outstanding not to mention the professionalism !! NO I am not just saying this because I won a set of tires. I speak from experience as a former mechanic with over 19 years as an auto technician and an avid auto enthusiast. In the future when I think of spending my hard earned money I will for sure visit this shop for endless reasons. I recommend that anyone wanting service and quality where things are done RIGHT like they were in the old days should visit this shop as soon as possible. Spoke with Daniel on one of his facebook marketplace tire posts and Daniel took the time over a few days to help me out with options on tires for my truck. I know nothing about tires but told Daniel my preferences and Daniel took the time to talk me through different options based on budget and preference. Daniel treated me as if I were family buying tires from him and was very transparent. The prices are extremely competitive. I drove 45 minutes to the shop and did not regret it. I will be sending all of my vehicles to Towel City Tire from now on....
