I recently got engaged while at home on leave from temporary duty stationed overseas with the Army. I needed to get my fiances ring re-sized, and I told the person we worked with at Helzbergs that I would like to have it done before I left five days later. He told me that it usually only takes a few days to re-size it and he would make sure the jeweler did it quickly. I pointed out that there were other places who said they could do it the same day and he stated that they have an in house jeweler that does very good work and he would make sure it was done quickly. I called three days later to find out that it still wasn't done and hadn't even been started. Initially the representative said it would be done the next day for sure, then he called back a few minutes later and said that it wouldn't be done for several more days because the jeweler was not working the next day. Here it is a full eight days later and my fiance calls the store as my leave is now over and she will be picking the ring up. At first they tell her that it hasn't been started and it will be a few more days. After she raises an argument about that they change their mind and say it will be done in an hour. If they could do it in an hour, why didn't they do that last week? So she arrives to pick it up, and not only is it improperly sized, (fitting very loosely on her finger) but it appears that the band has been damaged in the process. Unbelievable. This is supposed to be a Kansas City institution and very respected, but they lied saying that the ring would be done sooner than they probably knew it would be done, and then when it was "done" the sizing was wrong and the band...

I purchased my wife's ring and my ring in the store and they offered me a warranty on the mens ring and told me "If it is ever damaged they would replace it". I took my ring after it had been damaged slightly and was told it would take 6 weeks to get the ring back and they would call as soon as it was back. Six weeks came and went and never received a call, on week 7 I called and was told the original ring had been sitting in the store for weeks and they could not honor the warranty because the ring had been discontinued. When I went into the store, they told me they would give me the value of the old ring towards a new one; however, after looking at rings for over 1 hour and at the end of checkout I was told I would only get half the value from the original ring towards a new purchase. Causing the new ring to be an additional $400.
I called the next day and said I didn't want the new ring and just wanted a refund for the warranty they were not honoring. After multiple days that turned to weeks of calling and never receiving a callback and multiple calls to the corporate headquarters, the story was always "The regional manager will call you" but she never did.
