I have been waiting for months to check out this shop. Unfortunately they don’t even adhere to their own posted hours. Today was my final time trying to show up and get a tire for my little boys bike. There hours say they open at 10:00a Saturday and at 10:15 still no one there to open the shop. I was talking to another customer and apparently the guys who open on the weekends party too hard. Either way I give one star because a business who can’t follow their own posted hours and continually treats customers this way needs to be called out. Please post reliable hours or honor the hours you post. This isn’t a one time thing it’s a regular thing. All I wanted was to make my little boy smile and not following your own word robbed me of that multiple times.
Follow up: after traveling home to google another bike shop I had to pass Kent cycle on my way to the new shop. I saw they were open and tried to give them another chance. Again I’ve been excited to check out this shop so close to home. I dropped off my sons bike for repair and made an arrangement to pay and pick it up.
Here’s where I feel true injustice: the shop owner told the workers not to repair the bike after seeing the review. So when I came to get it no work had been done. The other employees tried to make it right and rung me out and repaired the tube immediately.
However while waiting for the repair what I interpreted to be the owner showed up and put me on blast for my review. I owned my review and my words and tried to talk and resolve the issues I had since he approached me. However the gentleman proceeded to verbally tell me I’m not welcome, try to dismiss his own behaviors by poking what he thought were logical holes in my review, and attack my character and tell me to take my business elsewhere.
Maybe I am the a** for leaving a negative review then trying to give them a second chance, however retaliating to a customer and banning them from your business (he said I can “take my business elsewhere) is what I thought a big no-no. I feel this way as a business owner. If someone leaves a bad review it should be treated with respect and improvement if necessary. Not attacking the customer verbally outside a of your store.
Finally; their pricing practices seem predatory. They are located right off a main bike path and the price for the initial repair increased 3 times from what they have posted to what ended up on my receipt.
All in all: lateness, lack of accountability, retaliatory and predatory business practices, all to a first time customer who was initially excited to check out the bike shop so close to my home. And having an anxiety disorder in which he triggered through his verbal assault.
Please sir take a look at your actions and do not take them out on everyday people. I wanted to invest our needs and money with your business, I was excited. You ruined it by your own actions while also taking it out on me. -1,000,00 stars and it’ll take hours to recoup level out from the anxiety unwanted unexpected anxiety attacked induced...
Read moreI have been searching around for a bike far and wide throughout my stretch of Northeastern Ohio, from the “why am I doing this” frigid days of winter, to the thawed out early days of spring. Certainly a more ideal time to be perched atop a sweet ride. And sweet it is. I drove down to Kent after speaking with Molly, and hearing about the two bikes they had left (that fit my criteria)—I drove back with one of them. I was warmly greeted in the shop, and almost immediately upon entrance, I was back outside testing each of the two bikes. Shortly after, one of them was mine. From the ease of purchase and non-jargon-y rundown of the bikes specs—to the helpful lift of getting my new bike in the car, I greatly appreciated my experience at Kent Cycle. Maybe when I come down for a tuneup I’ll ditch the car and roll in the same way I rolled out. Thanks...
Read moreI cannot say enough great things about Kent Cycle. I bought my son's first pedal bike there a year ago and they offer a trade-in program for when he outgrows it, which any parent can appreciate. This year, I bought my first bike in many years there, and Molly kindly showed me some used bikes that met my needs and were half the price of a new one! I used the money I saved to trick out my bike with accessories, which were all installed while I waited. They even gave my son Legos to play with while we waited! Most recently, we had some accessories installed on my son's bike, and when they didn't work perfectly immediately, Molly adjusted them for us at no charge. She even installed a fender on my son's bike that someone else gave us at no charge! This is my bike shop for life. And my son says "Thank you...
