Garden State Barbershop — Local services in Keyport

My son is 18 months old and typically screams himself almost sick to get his haircut where we were going. I posted in a neighborhood Facebook page and got several replies to try Garden State Barbershop and I cannot stop raving about this place to my husband hours later! Dani did an AMAZING job with the cleanest and most precise cut this child has ever had. Her and JC were so patient while I tried to get him to calm down. She was soooo nice and friendly that he actually sat still and he HUGGED her after! They put his favorite tv show on and chatted to distract him. This place is definitely our new place! Also, the shop is SUPER clean and very nicely decorated. JC and Dani were so welcoming and so accommodating, especially with the time because I called to change the appointment. The people who posted were not kidding about them knowing how to cut toddlers!! IYKYK 🤣 Toddler haircuts aren’t for the weak.

The owner, JC and Mikey are amazing with kids, down to earth, very accommodating and best of all (most importantly) give great haircuts! It's super easy to book online, has reasonable pricing and they remember who you are. My toddler boy was previously traumatized by a dentist appt and so anything to do with his face and buzzing sounds is hard for him - he gets ALOT of anxiety and is scared to stay still. They were so patient with him that by the end, he was giggling and smiling rather than crying and screaming. They also gave him organic lollipops, chatted him up, played ms rachel and used a kid friendly chair - they absolutely went above and beyond to sweeten the experience for him. Highly recommend this newish business 👌 👏 Thank you JC and Mike for taking care of my son and also to Matt for being the youtube dj playing ms rachel!

Stopped in here for a quick fade (without an appt) and was told a barber named Matt would get me next. Unaware that this barber was EXTREMLY NEW AND GREEN, he gave me the absolute worst cut i've ever had in my entire life! It was so bad that after he was done, it looked like i needed ANOTHER haircut! lol And yes, i went back a few hours later and had an experienced barber try and salvage what was left but at that point - there really wasn't any saving it. Yes, they were very, VERY NICE but at the same time, if they told me the guy cutting my hair was new - i would have gladly waited for another barber OR went to another shop. Not trying to put this shop down!! Just a tip, a "cautionary tale" that if you go there, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EXPREIENCED BARBER THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING CUT YOU BEFORE YOU END...
