I’d give a negative star if I could. I went to Best tile for bathroom shower and floor tile. Someone came to assist me just as I was ready to walk out the door since I’d been waiting a ridiculous amount of time. I showed the saleswoman the wall tile I liked. It was black with a tan designthat I wanted to use a as a feature wall. We then picked black floor tile for the shower and bathroom floors and a complimentary black wall tile. She then said it would be too dark and picked yet another tile to put on the shower stall ceiling. I questioned it because this was introducing yet another color and tile. She assured me it would work. “I do this bathroom all the time”, she said. Long story short I come home from work to find my tile installer had finished the shower. It was terrible. The grey didn’t match and it was just not a nice tile. It looked like we had run out of tile and slapped this tile we had laying around up there. I asked everyone who walked in what they thought and was asked, “did you run out of tile?” I paid my tile installer $500 to rip it down and use the extra tile we had left over from the walls leaving me with no overage for the future. I called the store very upset and was told, “ Sorry, we can only take back sealed boxes.” They couldn’t care less that they cost me nearly an additional $1000 for their mistake/bad taste. I deferred to someone who was supposedly knew what they were doing. Today I found a closed box of the tile. They obviously sold me too much to begin with. I brought it back for a return and was told, “ Sorry, it’s too late to return it.” This came from the person who made the mistake in the first place. She remembered me and the issue. “You bought it in February and it’s April, it won’t be the same dye long.” She didn’t even have the courtesy to check the inventory to see if there was any tile left from that dye lot. I’m supposed to believe they sold out the entire lot. She basically rolled her eyes and said “Nothing I can do…” I am understanding and respectful of return policies, but I’d say as a courtesy they’d have shown a bit of consideration after the ordeal. Nope. I’ve completed another bath and a kitchen without a hitch since then and have another bathroom left to do. Anyone looking for designer tile, courteous service and designers who know what they’re doing, try Tilebar. They’ve...
Read moreThis store was recommended by our contractor, and we found they do have a good selection of tile. We found what we were looking for. Unfortunately I deducted 1 star for the "discount" we received, and 2 stars for their poor return policy. We expected a fair discount given that our builder sends business their way, and they were supposed to bill him directly. Instead they gave us a "coupon" discount that you could find on some restaurant's place-mat. We purchased the tile in August and September, and now it's November and they now have a general "sale" that's better than the discount we received.
Second, we were told that we could return unused tile if in an unopened box. Due to our builder being ill for several weeks, the work in our bathroom was delayed about a month. It's now about two months since we purchased the tile, and today I lugged a heavy unopened box of extra floor tile. The saleswoman was adamant that they only accept returns if within a 30 day period. I told her that nobody told us this policy even after I asked about returns. She pointed to the back of the sales receipt where in very small print it states the 30 day policy. She said the reason was because of dye lots. At the time I was trying to return these tiles, they were selling the IDENTICAL tile to another customer ... there was no difference in the tile they were selling and the tile I was trying to return. Mentioning this made no impression on the saleswoman. So, now I lugged a very heavy box of tiles home. I could press the issue since they really should have mentioned this policy when specifically asked about returns. We would have delayed the purchase if Best Tile told us their policy.
So, bottom line - good selection - so-so prices (you might want to find out when they're having a sale) - and a TERRIBLE...

My wife and I recently decided to extensively renovate and remodel our house. We wanted to transform our existing home from “family with young kids” friendly to a more “sophisticated adults” home. Luckily, we shopped around and found fantastic interior designers to help us (Sue Comfort and her daughter, Maddie Kupecki). These interior designers seem to know all the best local tradesmen around Rumson and Monmouth County, NJ. Their suggestions for tile supply, furniture stores, plumbing fixtures, specialized lighting fixtures, granite and marble supply, painters, electricians, plumbers, and more were entirely spot on. This included Best Tile and Steve Gassler.
Best tile has locations in 10 states from Massachusetts to North Carolina, and 3 locations in New Jersey, so their readily available inventory is enormous and diverse. Their collections include ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, glass, metal, mosaics and...
