Comics Exchange — Local services in Knoxville

My family just got into comics, my husband coming back to them since not being into them since his teen years. We’ve been trying to visit the different shops in the area, and this one was a surprising gem! The shop itself definitely looks like it’s been there since the 90s, but we personally think that’s part of its charm. The staff member who was working was amazing, and so friendly! We had a great time talking and chatty as we were looking around. We had 2/3 of our kids with us and she was great with them (it’s always nice when your kids are treated as a welcome customer and not a nuisance!), and my youngest will probably be talking about her “rainbow bird!” for a long time! Whenever I am in a new town, I try to find the best local comic book shops. A friend referred me to the Comic Exchange, and I had high hopes there would be a good selection. Unfortunately, I found the assortment to be restricted to just main stream comics. Roughly half the store is action figures, busts, and statues, but most of the merchandise was covered in a layer of dust and not organized well. I believe with a coat of paint, a deep cleaning and massive reorganization this place could make the best use of this small space to make it a comic shop people would actually want to go. Excellent store with terrific selection, both new release and back issues as well as lots of trade paperbacks and hardbacks. Bill also does a lot of business with statues and collectibles, so it's a great place to get those too. Yes, the building is old, but I've been a customer of Bill's for nearly fifteen years because of the great service and friendly attitude here. It's also worth noting that girls and women are absolutely welcome here and always treated politely, both by staff and other customers. No bad attitudes to be found here.
