If I could give 0 stars for my review I would. My experience with East TN Children’s Hospital ER was TERRIBLE. My husband and I brought our 13 month in because we were worried that he may be having seizures. We arrived at 10:45 in the morning and didn’t leave until almost 3:00 pm.
When we first got there, we were called back relatively fast. After about an hour of waiting, we went upstairs to get an EEG and then we were sent back to our room to wait for the results. Afterwards we waited almost 2 hours in the room with no update, no one came in to check on us and at this point my son was way overdue for a nap and hadn’t eaten since breakfast( it was almost 2:00 pm). I decided to use the call button for the nurses station. I asked if we were going to get an update on my sons tests and asked when we should expect to see the doctor. She said she would give us an update but after 20 minutes I never heard back. I decided to call them again and let them know that at this point we had been there for 4 hours, my son was WAY overdue for food and a nap and we have been waiting in our room for 2 hours and have not seen/heard from anyone. They didn’t respond and just disconnected the call. Mind you I was very polite and in no way rude either time I called. About 15-20 minutes later the doctor finally came into our room and let us know that he was supposed to receive a call from the neurologist with the test results and hour ago but hadn’t heard anything yet. He said he would give them a call and be right back. After he came back to tell us the results we were discharged shortly after. Why did it take. I am beyond frustrated with my experience here and would not recommend this hospital to anyone. This was the first and last time I will be taking...
Read moreWhen my granddaughter was 2 yrs old, we took her to children's twice because she was so sick, just a virus. We also took her to the pediatrician ear infection, virus. She was so so sick. Her mother had an appointment with her Doctor for a physical, she took my granddaughter with here to this appointment. The doctor took one look at my granddaughter and said how long has she had RSV. So we took her back to the pediatrician and made them test her for RSV, it was positive. I should mention the pediatrician office is affiliated with Children's hospital. My granddaughter is now 5 yrs old, sick again very high fever, we took her to Children's yesterday 12-5-24 after the urgent care affiliated with Children's said she need to go there. They test her for everything strep, covid, and flu all negative. Just a virus that causes high fever. This morning her fever was 106.1 called her new doctor ( not affiliated with Children's) they said they could see her at 5pm today, my daughter and granddaughter are still there as I am writing this and guess what she has Flu A and they are still running other test. This is no way shape or form excepable Children's Hospital. Should I also mention while at children's yesterday a nurse improperly hooked up my granddaughter to the equipment and when it said her heart rate was 305 everyone in the ER came storming into the room scaring the life out of my daughter because she was in such fear for her daughter. Just for the doctor to say the nurse was wrong and the equipment was wrong. I am so discussted with this hospital. These are children at a children's hospital. This is so wrong on so many levels 2 missed diagnoses. Shame on...
Read moreWe went to emergencies because we were extremely worried, and we cannot believed that it took 1 hour and a half for the doctor to see our child! What kind of emergency’s place is this? They were more concerned to have all administration paperwork done before seen our child! So dissapointed, if it wasn’t nothing to worry about, why they didn’t tell us before the hour and a half? To charge $ us better?. 10 min in the entrance, 1hr and a half in a room (5 min with a nurse who asked us what happened, don’t know the reason, she just said “ok the doctor will be here in a few minutes!” Why did I bother to explain her then!; 30 min or more with the lady who typed all info and then and hour waiting for the doctor! Our child was hungry, thirsty, bored, he doesnt watch tv!; if the doctor was with us 5 min I’m exaggerating! He said ooo is ok! Really!!! Why! What a relief, but not fair having us in a room an hour and a half for this! As I say just to charge us better $; and then the doctor said wait me 5 min, we waited 15 min and our son was extremely hungry, I said to the nurse, what are we waiting for? Ooo wait the doctor is on the telephone! Really! We just needed to sign a paperwork at what time we exit, that was it! Just money more money for them, so dissapointed of this place!). We understand there should be kids with really an emergency, but if ours wasn’t an emergency, why having us extremely worried for more than an hour in a room? Not fair! just...
