Not overly impressed. I visited this location twice in a two week period. It was my first ever experience with Cook Out. I've seen Cook Out restaurants in many locations, but I have never visited a Cook Out prior to this visit. My partner was in a nearby hospital and Cook Out is a short walking distance. I would order takeout and head back to his hospital room. At this particular location, you must order at an outside window or utilize the drive thru. I didn't realize there is no inside dining room here. I placed my order outside. On both occasions, the staff i encountered were nice. My first visit I ordered a BLT, onion rings and Carmel shake. My partner had a chilli dog, onion rings and chocolate shake. The shakes were most certainly the best part of the meal. Cook Out has amazing shakes and a huge selection of flavors to choose from. On my second visit, my partner wanted his favorite chocolate shake and nothing to eat. I ordered the Cheddar style burger, rings and my favorite Carmel shake. Honestly, I wasn't real impressed with the burger. The Onion rings are good, but I wish they were more crispy. Unfortunately, instead of receiving my favorite carmel shake, I received a chocolate, which was good, but I was really disappointed not getting the correct shake. I would certainly return to Cook Out again. Although not an overwhelmingly great experience, it certainly wasn't a poor experience. This Cook Out location is located in the heart of Tennessee Volunteer Country. Literally minutes from the main campus of The University of Tennessee. It's located directly on Cumberland Ave. a.k.a. the strip. The restaurant is located in a very busy area, so expect it to be busy. Each visit the ordering processes and food pick-up took about 15 minutes. I highly recommend the...
Read moreThis place single-handedly has kept me fed for numerous nights. One of the only places open extremely late into the night, and they consistently serve good fast food every time.
The lines can be intense sometimes, especially on the weekends and after UT football games, so I’d recommend not going during those nights and between the hours of 10pm-1am if you dislike lines.
That being said, for how many people they have in line, it moves fairly fast all things considered. The atmosphere is pretty great too, and during busy times it’s very lively if not a bit rowdy.
There’s no indoor area or seating, but some people like to sit on the sidewalk nearby to eat their food.
Occasionally there may be a mistake with your order, most commonly if you order at the walk-up window instead of drive-thru, but in the probably close to a hundred times I’ve eaten here, I’ve only had a problem with the order a handful of times.
If you come here at night, especially on the weekend, be very careful driving and keep an eye out for drunken people walking around, since this is a popular spot to hang out and very often they will walk out in front of your car.
There are a lot of options on the menu, both for food and for shakes. I heavily recommend the cheese bites and Cajun fries. Hamburger patties are very small and pretty thin, but...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible! I love cookout in the county we are from but my daughter was admitted to Children's so we ran down here for dinner. Good grief I should have just eaten the hospital food. (which ironically isn't even bad at ETCH.. I just wanted something different) the line was ridiculous, maybe not their fault but once I realized how incompetent they were.. the line is totally on them! They couldn't hear through the box so we had to YELL repeatedly back and forth with the truck off. They repeated our order at the window and it was correct BUT what they repeated back to us, the food that came out the window and what was on our receipt were 3 different orders. ORDERED 2 chicken strip trays with sweet tea and 2 mint chip shakes.. PAID FOR 2 chicken strip trays, hush puppies, huge cheerwine, chocolate chip shake and Oreo shake, RECEIVED a coke, cheerwine, chicken strips-no sides in the 'tray' a box that felt empty but had a whole 2 cheese bites in it and ONE shake. Tell them they were wrong? Have them fix it? There was no way with as high as the guy acted he would have known what we were even saying. We cut our losses and went back to our sick kid.. this location sucks. It's kinda sad that a location so close to stressed, exhausted and scared parents with kids in the hospital have this...
