My husband and I had a terrible experience with Mellow Mushroom on Cumberland. However, the General Manager contacting me personally, refunded what I had payed for the night of pizza, apologized for how we were served, and even gave us a gift card as an additional apology. Elizabeth Reed, the GM, was so professional and apologetic, I couldn't help but alter my review. The "kids" that worked there that night may not have met expectations, but Elizabeth Reed will for sure exceed any and all expectations that you have for a company. My original review is below for a testimony. But, please note that Elizabeth went above and beyond to make sure that terrible night was made a little better. I cannot thank her enough for her hospitality and customer service.

If it sounds too good, it probably is. My husband and I ordered the Mother's Day Special. It sounded like a great deal and we've always loved Mellow Mushroom!
It came with bruschetta, salad, large pizza, and a cookie for $34.99. We also prepaid a 15% tip.
I called in a free order of pretzel bites with beer cheese per a coupon through my email address. I also called to place the order on the Mother's Day Special but the girl cashier said it was probably an online deal. She honestly wasn't sure. Which is fine, as long as they would honor the free pretzel bites.
We placed the online order of the enlightened salad with NO pecans because my husband has an EXTREME allergy to nuts. A house pizza with specifics. Bruschetta with no changes. Then a chocolate chunk cookie.
The pizza turned out fine. The salad had pecans. The bruschetta came bread and toppings separate. The toppings looked awful. There were no chocolate cookies made. Plus, they forgot the pretzel bites and cheese for a hot minute.
Dan, had to come and fix how to get the pretzels free. Then he offered to bake a cookie but it would take 15 minutes and our pizza would probably be cold probably by then. He also said he would fix the salad. My husband was afraid to eat it afterwards incase they fixed it by picking off the pecans.
So, we get home and have cold pizza, cold pretzel bites, an uneaten salad, a peanut butter cookie that no one can eat, the worst bruschetta ever, and regret that we had a terrible time at Mellow Mushroom.
We did ask if they had a busy day, because possibly that was the culprit. But, they apparently were only busy at brunch/lunch and this was 8pm. No excuses. If it sounds too good to be true, it...
Read moreI have been a returning customer to the Knoxville Mellow Mushroom for the past year and I had never received bad customer service until this evening. My friends and I had been attending the trivia nights for the past couple weeks and we had decided to make it a weekly thing to come and play and enjoy the pizza. Every time we came we were bringing more of our friends with us. There were around 10 of us there this evening. We were enjoying our evening in playing the Disney trivia. There of course was the rule of no phones and we asked our waitress if after we had turned in our answers if we could check our phones. She said we were allowed. Just to be safe when we did check our phones we would get up and leave the table, which they had announced over the intercom was okay. The waitress, Julie, who was working the table next to us was side eying us the whole evening to point of where it felt like harassment. She happened to be assisting the table next to us who were her friends. She apparently turned us in for cheating. Which if she had they should've disqualified us then and there. Instead they didn't tell us we had been accused of cheating so we continued playing the game. At the end we were told we had come in second which would result in a 25 dollar gift card. None of our group was using our phones to cheat like they said. They caused us to waste about 4 hours there. Needless to say, I was appalled by the customer service we received. I work in a customer service job and I have been trained that the customer is always right. At the end of the evening when we were disqualified we asked to speak to the manager on site he said he wasn't qualified to talk to us about this. So we then called the head manager and he said that the manager on site should be the one to go to. After talking to him we were still not satisfied and we asked him for the number of the owner which he refused to give. After my horrible experience this evening I will NEVER be returning there again. They have just lost 10 frequent customers and more because we will be spreading the word around to our friends about...
Read moreThis was my 3rd trip to this location. The first time I went for my birthday last year and had a wonderful experience. I got the mega veggie pizza with vegan cheese and had a daiquiri. Even ordered a hoagie with tofu and vegan cheese to go. I have since been back twice and after my most recent experience it will definitely be my last time. I asked for vegan cheese on my pizza and both times it has been regular mozzarella cheese. I don't know why they offer vegan cheese as an option if they are just going to ignore/screw up your request every time. It took forever for the pizza to come out and then the waitress acted like it was vegan cheese when I asked her about the cheese on the pizza... I use daiya all the time at home and know for a fact it wasn't what was on the pizza. I also ordered a strawberry daiquiri that tasted like nothing but lime juice and came in a glass smaller than the kids size lemonade I ordered for my child. Very disappointed with my most recent experiences here. I came here specifically because of the vegan options and got let down, twice. If I do decide to go to a mellow mushroom again it won't be...
