I attempted to make an appointment here and was met with road block after road block. First, Kirsten at the front desk demanded that we tell her a letter that she insisted had to be on the insurance card. The letter she said would tell her whether or not they accepted our insurance. I told her that there weren't any letters other than PPO and that I could provide her with the ID, group number and provider phone number and she refused saying those wouldn't help. This alone is absurd, as a young adult I worked at a few provider offices and these were exactly what was used to verify insurance and check whether the provider was covered.
I hung up and called my insurance (BlueCrossBlueShield through Boeing) myself, first asking about the letter which Kirsten requested. They agreed with me that they had no idea what letter the woman referred to and that you couldn't determine whether a provider was covered with one letter. I next asked them to see if Knoxville Ped Assoc was covered and they indeed were.
I called the office back and got Kirsten again. I told her that I called our insurance and they indeed were covered, she next demanded that they have vaccination records in hand BEFORE making the appointment. I told her that that is why I was trying to make an appointment because we just moved here from Washington state and my daughter has started kindergarten here and we need a certificate of wellness which is attached to the immunization document. She then informed me that it was their practice policy to refuse treatment to children who are not vaccinated. I mentioned that religious exemption from immunization were protected under the first amendment as well as Tennessee state statute 49-6-5001(b)(2). She then said that she didn't know what to do because that was the policy and that she could transfer me to the office manager. She put me on hold and then came back and said the manager Teresa was in a meeting.
This place first had no idea how insurance works. They showed absolutely no interest in child health and wellness and upheld a policy that is against state and federal law. Treating me poorly is beside the point, and she did, our whole conversation she was extremely rude.
The point is they demanded the impossible, showed absolutely no care for children's health, have a policy in state that is against the law and were very happy to hang up on...
Read moreWe take my son here and are happy with the doctors we see. One thing that was new to me is that you see a different doctor every visit. You can request a specific doctor when you make an appointment. To me the is advantageous for a few reasons: You can try out a bunch of doctor to see who you sortta jive with and If your kid is randomly sick it makes getting an appointment really easy since there's so many doctors you can schedule with Generally more flexibility when scheduling appointments. You don't run into things like "we have a 2pm in 4 weeks on Thursday open, but nothing else for 3 months"
Dr. Solomon is my wife's favorite as he takes time with you and answers our questions thoroughly. I personally dont have a preference but I can say everyone we've seen has been super helpful.
The only (slight) con I have is twice we've gotten scheduled in the wrong kpa location when requesting Dr Solomon. So just check the text notifications they send out that you're headed to...
Read moreI usually don't have any problems with this doctor office I actually quite love it but they need to get a new medical team with better attitudes I have never seen so much attitude from this doctor office like I did today. If you can't handle working with children that are going to act out because of vaccines you don't need to work around children I could see the annoyed looks on each team member that worked with my two year old except two one being a NP and the team member giving the shot and yes he was being naughty because he didn't want shots. Then the rudeness about my son ripping a old sticker off the wall which was already coming off a staff member comes into the room asking about "damage" to a wall which wasn't damage at all my son ripped their petty sticker off and it peeled their cheap paint and I could see the rudeness all in her face and voice. Do better you work...
