I recently moved to Tennessee and this was my very first time trying to go into The Half Barrel. I was standing in line, sober, waiting my turn to get in. I politely asked the bouncer how long the line would be, and he immediately yelled at me to “hold on.” I made a face because I didn’t understand why I was being yelled at for asking a simple question. He got angry and told the other bouncer not to let me in. I walked over to the second bouncer to ask what I did wrong, and even he admitted the other guy was being dramatic. When I tried to speak to the manager about the issue, the same bouncer came back, pushed me toward a trash can, and then actually picked me up and threw me onto the concrete. I broke my foot on impact and couldn’t even get up. Nobody offered to help. I called the police, but when Knoxville PD arrived, they dismissed me, laughed, and took the bouncers side after he lied about the situation. They didn’t even file a report. The next morning, when I called back to get the names of the officers, I was told nothing could be done since no report was made. My attempts to message the department and bar have gone unanswered. This place caused me a serious injury, assaulted me when I tried to talk to management, and treated me like a joke. The lack of accountability from both the bar and local police is unacceptable.

This bar is pretty chill, they have great music and food. They have two bars to serve, one having air conditioning and the other doesn't. Everything about this place was great except for the fact that you are allowed to smoke inside. That was the only thing that I dint like since I don't smoke.

Great service and amazing drink selection! I particularly loved the relaxed atmosphere and the music! Their menu is pretty extensive for a bar, I recommended the cheesy fries! However, please note that people tend to smoke inside of this location.

I miss their previous employees. The current servers don't check with you too often if you sit in one of their booths or tables. If you walk up to the bar trying to order a drink, they'll tell you to wait for the server. What's the bartender doing? Playing Pokemon Go, drinking water, etc. They can't get the orders right. How can you mistake moonshine with Moosehead? Also, I ordered one beer and one shot, the server TOOK my order, came back with one beer, and said, "You can only have one drink at a time, so." 10 years of my drinking time, the worst bar I had been was not even as half bad as this bar. They should change the name of bar to The Half Bad. I'm...

This bar for the greater part of ten years has been my home away from home. Great Staff and decent pricing along with a mellow atmosphere and lots of room to move around most of the time makes this place a great regular spot. Most would mistake it as a college bar for it's placement adjacent to U.T. campus and they do get a fair amount of students but please take it from me this place is frequented by all age groups. The food, as well, is made mostly from scratch and prepared/presented in a quality, great tasting way that absolutely fits in with the atmosphere of this...
