I love Pratt’s and it’s a gem in Fountain City and North Knox County. And don’t just think about produce; the fresh bread, local honey, the great plants he sells on consignment, and the other little great things around the store really do make it a great stop often.
I got two carpenter bee traps there that are the best things I ever bought at Pratt’s other than the Strawberry Rhubarb Fried Pies which are almost an addiction. The traps work as long as you hang in warm sunny spots and put near corners and crevices near where the bees are working. You will soon get every penny back on them with what you’ll save in the damage those horrible pests make.
Yes I know Pratt’s isn’t as cheap as the chains - but the service, quality, feel, and knowledge you are helping a local business is worth every single penny you spend.

I get a much better welcome at farmers market stalls or any grocery store. This place had good reviews online and looks cute from the outside. I went in and all the workers just stared at me. The produce didn’t look that great, and there wasn’t much to choose from. The okra looked ragged, the bananas were Dole and half were rotten. The decorative mini pumpkins and gourds were $1 but look like you’d need to wash them. I’d rather go to a normal store and get clean-looking stuff. Maybe it’s better in spring or summer. Everything from flowering annuals and perennials to fruit and vegetable plants, all on the peek of booming and fruiting. They take care of these guys so when you get them home, they will thrive.
When you get into the store you will find an assortments of very local products and bakery items from around Knoxville. They also have Amish butter and local eggs, even local bakery bread, so you have all the staples covered.
