The Chop House — Restaurant in Knoxville

This was 1 star but updated after management interference. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Me n the hubs both ordered filets His medium with corn n sweet pot fries. Mine medium well with baked potato n Mac n cheese. Some random waiter brings our food and RUNS, absolutely unacceptable. By the time our waiter returns 10 minutes later, I inform her that me and the other guest did not get our Mac n cheese and these steaks were cooked awful, i didnt receive the coke i had previously asked her for.. She actually said do you want me to re cook it.. are you serious recooking a cold steak? I didn't want to make a fuss so me n the hubs tried to eat it. These are $34 steaks and after waiting another 10 minutes, still no coke the manager brings 1 Mac and cheese out when it should have been 2, the other guest was sent mashed potatotes.. I informed him I would not be paying for this meal and handed him my entire plate. Both steaks were medium rare (see photos) only difference mine was charbroiled black on the outside. It was completely ice cold by the time my Mac n cheese came (20 minutes later). I hated to even complain infront of another couple but the steaks were horrible... I am leaving 3 stars instead of 1 simply because the manager did try to make it right. He corrected our ticket and brought me a new meal, new sides and all, even though I didn't ask for one. The steak was cooked very well that time. Another thing that aggravated me is the waiter didn't even bother to ask how the checks should be split and brought the entire bill to the table. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Will give this place 1 more try as I normally don't have this many issues. will update review...

I am always met with or exceeded by the expectations I have of The Chop House and today's meal did not disappoint. I took my husband this time. He had never been to any of The Chop House establishments. I was excited to see what he thought. We stopped in at the restaurant located at 4870 Harvest Mill way, near Fountain City, in Knoxville, Tennessee. After we were seated, a very polite and very respectful man named John came to our table to "take care of us" and took our drink order. We both had iced tea. It was brewed perfectly and started off a wonderful meal. My husband had the steak with sauteed burgundy mushrooms and house fries. He stated that the steak was perfect and even had me try a button mushroom. Oh my goodness! They were sooo good. If you like the taste of french onion soup, a little burgundy, and button mushrooms, these are for you! I had a half Philly steak and cheese, a side salad, and a bowl of the best lobster bisque. John came often, checking on us, and refilled our drinks. He was so kind and respectful. He was cleancut, his shirt tucked in, belt in his pants, neat haircut, and a willingness to wait on us. This is why you don't eat at home. This is why you venture out to a restaurant. The excellently prepared food, the cleanliness of the entire establishment, the waitstaff, the whole picture. That's what makes you excited to go back. I gave this restaurant 5 stars. I don't do that often. John and the chef there did that. My husband gave him a 40% tip. Made a reservation for 6 pm for 3 people. We were seated promptly after being greeted by a hostess. The table was clean and comfortable. We brought our toddler son, and a high chair was brought out quickly, along with some crayons and a kids’ menu. Our server, Nick, made sure to stop by quickly as he bussed a table to let us know he’d be right with us.

Nick was knowledgeable and thorough, walking us through the specials. He had impeccable manners and asked great questions throughout to make sure our order was exactly what we wanted.

My fiancé ordered a 14oz ribeye with a sweet potato and baked apples, as well as a Long Island. Top-shelf liquor was offered, but he went with the house option.

I ordered the chicken Caesar salad with a side of onion rings for the table and a chicken tender kids’ meal for our son.

Our drinks were constantly replenished, and empty plates were cleared promptly.

As for the food, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the onion rings were AMAZING. My salad was just as it should have been. The only issue we had was with our son’s chicken tenders, which were truly the tiniest I had ever seen in my life! They were genuinely no bigger than an inch or an inch and a half. We immediately brought this to Nick’s attention, and he agreed. Not too long afterward, the manager brought out a new serving with better-sized tenders.

All in all, our food was great, the service was EXCELLENT, and our only issue was resolved immediately.
