Gerhard's Kitchen, Bath & Lighting Store — Local services in La Crosse

Several years ago I purchased and undertook a major renovation on an older home. I went to Gerhard's in Lacrosse for the updates to the kitchen and bath. Mary Kay Paul helped me through the seemingly endless decisions about cabinets, fixtures, sinks, faucets, shower doors ..... Recently, one of the shower doors came off the track and jammed. As I stood in the shower trying to lift the door back onto the track, it burst into a thousand pieces and rained down on me. The next day, after I recovered from the shock, I called Mary Kay at Gerhards hoping she would have the door purchase on file and be able to order me a replacement door. She called back a short while later and said the manufacturer would be sending a replacement door at no cost. Nice surprise! Unfortunately, when the door came, there were no handles included. Mary Kay got in touch with the manufacturer who promptly sent the handles. However, there were no adherent shims included to attach the handles. Once again, Mary Kay got hold of the manufacturer who said they'll be sending the missing parts. I've been really impressed and appreciative of all the help Mary Kay and Gerhard's has given me, a past customer. I would have been fairly well lost in this replacement project without Mary Kay's...

My initial needs were simple - a replacement kitchen faucet. But after we found out our stone countertop wasn't cut to accommodate that faucet, it got interesting and that's why I'm writing this. I stopped in for a 2nd time with very specific requirements and a hope of finding something quickly, and Michelle M was there to help. She listened to what our very specific needs were, made several calls to faucet producers to ask for recommendations of anything that would fit those requirements when it turned out that nothing in the showroom seemed to fit those dimensions, and when it turned out that they must not make anything of compatible size anymore she suggested a local company that works with stone countertops that might be able to help. She even contacted them for me, got me a quote, and was able to find out they could come to my house the same day - bonus! So while this is not the neat and tidy kind of 'everything went great' story, I'm happy and grateful that Michelle was able to help make the best of...

From the moment I first talked with Mary Kay Paul on the phone with an inquiry thru the selection of multiple fixtures, it was apparent I was in good hands. She was both welcoming to my ideas and inviting to her professional thoughts and expertise. She went out of her way to help me find fixtures that were lovely but also within my price range. In addition, she seemed to truly desire to be helpful and have fun providing her service. My general and plumbing contractors think highly of her as well. The shop was quiet with appointment only visits which I appreciated during this time of social distancing and COVID 19. It was a very clean environment and there were plenty of hand sanitizers around.

Lastly, the quote for the fixtures have come in under budget thus far. This never happens to me. Usually I agonize over decisions. Who would have ever thought that I could have shopped for so many items in one visit! Well, I know I couldn’t have done it without Mary Kay’s help.
