I’d like to share my experience with this place. Unfortunately mine wasn’t as pleasant as most that have gone here. I did some extensive searching for a hairdresser that specialized in blonding. I came up with a girl that worked there. She suggested I do a hair treatment first then bleach my roots (retouch) and black (retouch). I showed her a pic of what I wanted my hair to look like and she said she could do that. Skip ahead to after application, the black bled all over the blonde that gave it a muddy grey look. She also placed a shadow root on it . Not sure why which made it look way worse. During my time at the salon she was talking about personal situations that’s were going on at the salon. Definitely not a happy employee. She told me to come in the next day to have it fixed. I showed up the next day and she suggested a bleach bath. I’ve had that before and it’s done a lot of damage to my hair. I said absolutely not. At this point adding more lightener would create breakage. Nothing really could be done other than to dye it all dark. I was pretty upset but tried to accept it. She placed a few colored hair extensions in my hair ( that I had to pay for) to break up the solid black. When I would try and put my hair up in a ponytail the extensions were a lot longer than my hair because they were never trimmed. Forward to 2 days later I showered and the extensions fell out. I requested a refund and received partial. I spent almost $400 on black hair because blonde hair was no longer an option and a hair treatment. I was still understanding at this point and tried to work with the salon to come up with a solution. I learned the girl that worked on my hair was no longer working there. They recommended I see another lady at there salon. I came back in (3 trips at this point) and she recolored the extensions. I had to come back in after they were colored (4 trips) to have them placed on correctly . Fast forward a couple days later my hair was lightening up in spots and I didn’t understand what was going on. The original hairdresser used a gloss so it was coming out. I called the salon back and had to come back in (5 trips) they did another treatment and used Demi color, free of charge. And guess what…it’s coming back out to how it was looking before. Not good at all. I talked with an owner once before the last visit regarding the situation whom seemed appreciative that I was allowing them to make it right. I was still very understanding at this point. Then the color started coming out again. The problem here is that it’s not right. I have had more extensive damage done to my hair, a Demi color that’s fading in spots and an unhappy customer that now has to wait years to let it grow out. I did have the salon refund part of my money, they did try to make it right for me, but the bottom line is once chemicals damage hair you can’t undo that. Treatments can help but it’s not a magic fix all. I have to have a hair color that’s fading out again and im left to figure out what to do with it. I’m not bashing the salon or the ladies that work there by any means. I’m simply explaining my experience there and what the outcome was. I have added pics of what my hair looked like before just needing a touch up with the blonde and black, with the hair extensions that fell out and the color that’s coming out from the demi color. My suggestion to the owners of the company is to get more involved with situations like this. Show that you care. Speak to people more that just one time, only to let me know that the lady fixing my hair was not gonna be in and I needed to reschedule, and also really didn’t know about my situation a whole lot, to make sure everything is going ok during the “fixing”. And maybe even a full refund and follow...
Read moreI wasn't going to post a public review, but there has been no response to my private review, not even an apology, so here we are. I strayed away from my normal stylist since she was booked and decided to visit the Metropolitan salon.
My hair was mid-length (about 4 inches past my shoulders) and all I wanted was a tapered LONG bob- taking about an inch off the overall length and adding some long layers for texture. I provided 3 similar photos, one of which was literally a photo of my own hair with the same cut I had requested. I also physically indicated the length I wanted so there was no confusion.
Things started out OK, but then took a turn. She JUST KEPT CUTTING. I think somewhere along the way she may have forgotten what style she was supposed to be doing and decided to try and give me a pixie cut instead. The layers kept getting shorter and shorter. When I got home I noticed that the shortest layer is about 2 inches from my scalp...
I let her continue although it was obvious that I was upset, but what could I do in this situation? There's no gluing things back together. Once my hair was dry I started to panic- because I knew she wasn't done, but I told her that she needed to stop cutting the length and try to even out the front (everything was uneven and there was no saving the back without cutting off another inch or so). So she did and I couldn't get out of that chair fast enough.
I walked up to the counter, hair visibly uneven and a choppy mess and was still expected to pay. Even though it was obvious that I was upset, I wasn't asked about my service and instead prompted to pay $40. She knew better than to broach the topic of tipping- because it was pretty obvious that wasn't happening. Maybe I could have avoided paying altogether if I would have been agro about it, and maybe I should have put up a fight, but I was closer to crying than anything else and just wanted to leave.
My hair is still a hot mess and barely touches my collar bone, about 5 inches (or more) lost- a far cry from what I had requested. New hair either brings you to life or forces you to wear a hat for months...I digress.
I will not be returning...
Read moreBased on all the raving reviews on here, I was excited to try this place out. Now that I have, however, I regret it. The whole experience was frustratingly mediocre for the cost. I came in with long, (nearly waist-length) plain, boring hair. My stylist was very nice, and I showed her pictures of what I wanted (lots of dramatic, textured layers) and stressed throughout the cut that I wanted short layers; something pretty dramatic. I did mention that I wanted to keep overall length if possible, and that would rid me of my split ends. The deep conditioning treatment she recommended really did help a lot and my hair feels great, but I am very disappointed by the mediocre quality of my haircut. The split ends are gone, but my hair barely looks any different. Three times, she stopped to show me my hair and ask if I was satisfied, and three times I told her that I wanted way more layers, something significantly more dramatic. I stressed that she need not stress about cutting too much off, and eventually said that I didn't even care about the length that much, in the hopes that it would convince her to cut more off. After I had been in the salon for two hours, I finally gave up, and the shortest layer I got was the 'face framing' that consists of two strands of hair that are about six inches shorter than they were when I came in. Like I said, my stylist was very nice and she did a very good job with the conditioning treatment and getting rid of my split ends, but I felt that the haircut really didn't deliver, and that I could have gotten the same cut at Great Clips for way cheaper. My hair looks really nice, but it's not what I wanted, and definitely not worth the money I paid for it. Overall, the staff was nice, the vibe of the place was okay, the hair conditioning treatment was awesome, and the haircut fell extremely short of my expectations, especially...
