I try to start any restaurant review with the positives. I’m sure one of the reasons people like this place is the modern restaurant and the river views. Well maintained and clean with a nice looking patio area. So we went tonight, at 7. We were seated within 20-25 minutes which wasn’t that bad because it was very busy. We were seated and it took 25 or so minutes before the waiter came. He brought water when he came and we were of course ready to order as we had been there for almost 30 min. As a table we got the grilled cheese dippers, the pepper jelly and pita chips and the fish tacos. I tried the grilled cheese dippers, the bread was grilled but very dry, the cheese was good but almost too rich. 1/2 of one was enough for me. The vodka marinara was ok too but not enough for all the dry bread. The pepper jelly and cream cheese was ok but nothing special, I did take the rest home with me. The fish tacos were very bland and tasteless. The cod was probably steamed I’m guessing? No color on it and it didn’t seem to be sautéed in anything. They say it comes with “salsa” but it’s really more of a simple pico. The tortillas were not grilled but raw and tasteless. Honestly all I could really taste was cilantro and an essence of peppers. The fish was BLAND. I suggest pan frying to add some color and adding some spicy seasoning as they are tacos. Maybe some butter and lemon or lime after it’s been pan fried. The waiter seemed like a nice guy and he was clearly overwhelmed but the service took a long time. I had to ask for some small plates to share, ask for a water refill, he didn’t stop by again after we got the food and when I said we didn’t like the tacos we weren’t offered another dish or any discount. We ate almost two of the four but they are very small (which I know is the concept) it’s hard to see but the tacos are about the size of a rim of a short glass. One cocktail was ordered (a double in a short glass) and one mocktail also in a short glass. There was probably 3 oz of actual liquid in each glass. The bill was $70 which isn’t terrible but I had about 6 bites of food in total. I almost always tip 20 percent or more last server I had I left a $20 but I will pay for the service I get which in this case was less then 10 percent. I don’t think I will be going there again but it seems other people like it.

My sister and I found this spot on a weekend trip to La Crosse. We loved everything about it! We stopped in on a Friday evening and grabbed spots at the bar. We had a mojito flight and a mule flight. We also had several tapas- sliders, grilled cheese sticks, and empanadas. Everything was unbelievably delicious! We had such a good time. The staff was friendly. And even though they were swamped and short staffed (posted sign), they still worked hard to make sure everything was perfect. It was such an amazing visit that we went back AGAIN the next night! This time we got there early, and we were there for hours! Kalli was our server and by the end of our visit we’d adopted her into the family! This time we had several delicious drinks- including a Pink Panther, blonde Russian, and a lemon drop martini. We ordered a margarita pizza. I was not a fan of the balsamic glaze, but my sister liked it. I had the Thai chicken pizza, and we got the sliders (again). We also had the Pepper Jelly dip with pita chips. I think that was my favorite part of any meal over the long weekend! So sorry I had to share it. Part of me is glad I don’t live in the area. I’d be back here every weekend!!! ETA- on a return trip to La Crosse we decided to visit 4 Sisters again, since our first rip was so amazing. This time we had a nice visit, but just slightly less perfect. Our server was very attentive, but not quite as friendly. When ordering the sliders I mentioned not wanting an ingredient on them, she pushed me to get it anyway. When I didn’t like them even enough to finish them, she just kind of brushed it off.

Quite honestly, I could go on and on about 4 Sisters Wine Bar & Tapas. I was so impressed with this restaurant. My mom said that last time they were in lacrosse that day had a meal here and really liked it. Boy was that an understatement. They have a beautiful patio space overlooking the riverfront park and the river itself. Inside the restaurant is cozy, but not crammed, all of the staff was very friendly, and I was absolutely floored by the quantity and quality of food you get for the prices on the menu. To give you an idea of the prices, we ordered these two “starters“ and after a 20% tip, it was still under $40. We had such a hard time deciding what to get. My mom remembered having the nachos and raved about them so we had to go with that and we opted for adding shrimp. Then, almost anytime I see ahi tuna on the menu I have to get it. The tuna was light and refreshing, but the star of the show were these nachos with fresh chips, layered toppings, so that it wasn’t all just on top, the bang bang sauce on them was spicy, but not overpowering, and there was plenty of shrimp throughout. They are happy hour specials had good drink prices and their bourbon list was possibly the most impressive one I have seen in a restaurant date. If you’re staying in the cross, passing through, or just need an excuse to explore a beautiful city, I’m sold. After eating there we drove down through the riverfront park and the city’s tribute to their sister cities was BEAUTIFUL. I’m definitely going to make time to go through there again.

4 sisters catered our wedding reception in La Crosse. Over a year ago we did a tasting with them and all the food was delicious. My wife and I are vegetarian and they did a great job in catering to our needs. We ended up ordering a vegetarian taco/nacho buffet and a charcuterie board with no meat.

This is where the pleasantries will end. Fast forward to our wedding reception day. We walk into the venue and the first thing we notice are multiple platters of meat on our charcuterie board. Tough start to the night…….as we were wanting a meat free wedding. To us, eating vegetarian is a very important value and seeing the meat was pretty devastating. Next, the power temporary went out (due to a nasty storm) so we weren’t able to use the nacho cheese machine (something we paid for). Lastly, the leftovers were thrown away when we were told that they’d be packaged up.

Coming to present day. We just got off the phone with our caterer contact, Jessica. We would have been fine with an apology and a small refund on the food that wasn’t used and the meat. Even with all that happened, Jessica was not willing to refund us for even a small portion of our bill and even insinuated that it was our fault for not confirming with her that we didn’t want meat on the charcuterie board. She wasn’t willing to take responsibility for THEIR mistake. We even have it in our wedding notes to ask about a meatless charcuterie board- which we did discuss with her at our tasting. She then had the audacity of saying that we should have noticed on the invoice that it said “Charcuterie board” instead of “Charcuterie board without meat”. There was NO WAY that we would have known that!!

All our other vendors sent us a partial refund for the services that weren’t provided because of the power outage even though they had no control over the weather. That is how business is done.

4 sisters catering decided to blame us for the charcuterie board, nacho cheese, and leftover food. They decided to take no responsibility for the night.

We would have been fine with a $100 refund for the nacho cheese. Even though the total cost that we already paid for and was wasted on the day over was substantially more. Lack of responsibility is not how quality businesses operate. I would avoid using 4 sisters and Jessica for...

Was there December 30th and sat in the bubbles outside. Everything started out fine. Prices have skyrocketed since last year. Ordered the grilled cheese dunkers app, and that has changed 100%. Not enough sauce for all the cheese dunkers. Still a pretty decent app dispite not being given enough sauce. We placed our order as soon as our apps came out. We were made aware that the any steak meal went up over $10 cause the size of the steaks got bigger. The menus did not reflect that change at all. Our server was great and prompt with whatever we needed. We sat at 6pm, ordered our main entrees at 7pm, and our food finally came at 7:42pm. We were told that we needed to be out by 8pm. We were told we could move inside if we were not done with our meals by 8pm. I ordered the surf and turf ( filet and shrimp). Shrimp were beyond small. Basically cocktail shrimp. I ordered my filet medium rare, and it came out steaming like molten lava in the middle beyond well done. Almost seemed to be finished off in the microwave cause the center was so hot and overdone. I immediately sent it back and the server 100% agreed it was beyond well done. Had to box my meal up cause it was after 8pm before my meal was finally ready. My friend that was with ordered the ribeye medium rare, and the steak tasted like a walmart flank steak. Super tough and chewy and by no way shape or form even looked like a ribeye. He was nice enough to fight through the steak and not say anything. Another couple sitting in a different bubble overheard us complaining about our steaks, and came over to us telling us their steaks we tough and unedible as well. My personal recommendation would be to either go back to the old cut of beef, get a different supplier, or just not have steaks on the menu. Not a good experience...
