We went Thursday afternoon/evening. Small grounds so see everything then. The tasting experience a bit expensive but 3 to 4 items per tent made it well worth it since they were all different choices. Found some absolute favorites! Only 1 tent had water to rinse the shot glass. We then wished all of them had that! After we finished went to where you could buy which good variety and ciders. Was saddened when we ordered with mug it was plastic. Have been to other events with well made mugs which were glass which came with our package that we paid more money. Oh my the 1 German food item brat with sauerkraut not the best we’ve ever had. Corn dogs were over done, when ordering lemonade 1st one way to much all you could taste the powder which made the lemon… when ordering at another vender tasted watered down. Mini donuts tasted not cooked all the way. Only 3-4 venders with items t buy. I found a sweatshirt only after putting into the car did I smell how must smelling it was. Oops 😬 We did try going back Friday over flowing with all different ages of drunks I kept having beer splashed on me. We found with it so small there really wasn’t anything more to see so it left us disappointed. Had know idea where that Carnival was that was supposed to be there. Torch light parade no real directions for that. The taping of ceremony was done way too early where other Fests do it early evening. Saw it and decided we would be...
Read moreI give it 2 because they try and miss the mark badly. So much of this is done wrong or substandard. From only one entrance which I can not believe osha or fire department allows both are remise in their duties. Not enough seating even Saturday when they added tables not enough by far. Out of most beers, wines by 8p.m. Sat That shows it is badly managed. Music all the same no real variety. No real family events. Carnival is 2 miles away which is stupid. This is 60 years old and basically the venue is 40 years overdue from renovation, expansion or best yet moved to a better venue but LaCrosse city or county has no county park venue to use. No dedicated fair grounds. So why is it not in Rivetside Park and make it something to be proud of. Not one local bar or Brewery had a presence or booth. That is just sad and bad This event should be moved to Milwaukee, Madison or Green Bay in LA Crosse it is just a badly planned, run,and not a really supported event. Very sad for the North American Location. Not enough Parking, Food Vendors or even alcohol for the people there. 60 years at this. Give me a brake. This is an embarrassment to anyone who understands what this should...
Read moreOktoberfest used to be fun, but this year was disappointing. Upon arriving to the fest grounds, I was told I cannot enter because my purse is styled like a backpack. The kid working was rude when i asked him if he could search it to show it's simply my purse.... He told me he was the manager (lol) when I asked to speak to someone else. Another lady working was quite literally SCREAMING in my face. Luckily another worker who saw how rude those two were being came over and told them as long as they peak into MY PURSE it was fine. She was so nice, so thank you to her, which is why I put 2 stars instead of 1. Once we were finally in, my friends got kicked out for drinking a beer through a horn.... I just feel like everything is changing and getting strict which is making Oktoberfest less fun. The fest is revolved around getting drunk, so maybeee some of the staff should loosen up and pick...
