My husband and I lived here in 2015 from June (I believe)- half of March 2016. And the only reason I give it the 2 stars is because the assistant manager was very kind and really was trying her best with what she had. I'll start with being honest- I did break my lease due to moving for my husband's new job and we had to let the debt transfer to a debt collector due to our financial situation. Not cheap to move from Texas to Iowa. Our living situation that I will be listing is by no means the assistant manager Michelle's fault. She truly tried to help us as much as she could; the major fault was on the manager that was fired halfway through our 1st 6 month lease. When I moved in it was not ready AT ALL. The place was FILTHY and that entire first week of being there I would hours detail cleaning such as picking paint flecks off my bathroom floor and cleaning leaves and dead bugs out of the bottom drawer of my oven. There was even black dirt (NOT mold) all on the sorrounding wall of about 3" from the ducts. My carpet in the entry was torn from when the maintences crew moved one of he appliances in and there was a hole where a dishwasher should have been. They never put one in the entire time we were there and told us they no longer supplied them and would be building shelves/ cabinets there. That never happened either. There was a panel on the ceiling in the restroom that gave access to the drip pan for the A/C and there was a little spout above my sink to let excessive condensation drop into and I assume that they just did not have a coil to carry excess condensation to outside. That being said to be fair they did tell us that the system was from the original building date but not till I addressed several issues we were having with the system. The drip pan had become so full the access door buckled in the middle and it flooded my bathroom floor. We told the office and maintenance never came that day. another issue was that we had, wait for it, NO AC DURING THE SUMMER. THE ENTIRE SUMMER. It would get up to high 80s and would not cool down till late at night. I had fans all around the apartment just to have air circulation and had to take cold showers to remain cool. I did aware the office and I didn't receive a window unit till the end of summer. To be fair- they did repair it toward the end of Sept or Aug I believe but I never could get the humid feeling out of my home and my tile floor was constantly covered with what felt like sweat. Also- my refrigerator went out TWICE ruining around $400 in groceries altogether. My husband and his friend had to carry it down and carry the replacement up themselves because maintenance decided not to come in that day. Oh- one last thing- when I would take a shower it flooded my downstair neighbor- so I couldn't shower for a WEEK waiting for the tub to be replaced (according to said fired manager). Tub was never replaced and instead patched so horrible that the paint or whatever it is starting chipping and floating in my bath water if I ever tried to relax in the tub. And yes, I did wait said amount of time to let it set as directed before using the tub. But besides all this Michelle was sweet woman that tried her best to help us and was more than understanding of our frustrations. I'm sure we were a huge pain as I was always late for rent since I was the only one working for months when my husband was laid off. I always paid the entire amount with late fees, but it was late. I tried my best to be a cooperative tenant but it got pretty difficult with our financial situation and how horrible I experience had been almost the entire time of living there. I'm sure it's improving drastically since new management was being implemented I believe I was leaving to help Michelle out. Hope they work everything out- the apartments could be a great place to live if they'd just take care of necessary repairs and had officers patrolling the area since it was pretty common to see an escort on my side of...
Read moreI grew up in this area. I have had several friends live here back in the day when the crime was high (even though it's right down the street from the police station). I am looking for a place to live that is more reasonable rent than where I'm at now. I stopped in to check this place out because a friend told me about the sweet move in special.
I couldn't believe it was the same place! It's quiet! The balconies are clean and the units I saw were upgraded. They even have super modern floors, granite countertops and back splashes in some units! The lady at the leasing office is new and told me that the management company and owners completely changed. Wow!
They are actually screening people properly now; running back ground checks, employment history verification and rental history verification (no broken leases). Well, no wonder it's so much more quiet and peaceful than years ago.
The parking is great, plenty of spots. And the new owners are planning to upgrade the Laundry room, etc a little at a time after more units are upgraded. The location is great, close to Sylvan Beach, and the Kemah board walk is not too far.
I have this property 5 stars because of the amazing change! Bravo to the new owners! Keep up the great work! This property is a serious contender for my move in October.
If your not sure about here, just do a shorter term lease to try it out. And ask about the upgraded units when you come in. If you plan your move well in advance you can put a deposit on a unit that will be upgraded closer to your move in time if there is not one available before you move in!
Yasenia in the office is super sweet, a good hearted person. She lives on property and will work with you to get you in exactly the kind of place you want.
You can for sure disregard the older reviews on here that were written when this place was owned by the previous owners who did not care and run by leasing agents that did not live here. Having the office people live on site makes a huge difference on their level of really caring about what goes on there.
Right now the are running a move in special $299 move in. I like to have a week or two over lap in apartments so that moving is not such a rush. With that deal I can afford movers and at least a two week over lap to have time to pack and unpack before returning to work from my vacation time.
In case your not familiar with this area, La Porte cops are bad boys! Calls will be responded to super fast compared to Houston. Whatever you do, don't speed around here! Seeing more than one cop car for a traffic stop is very common. So, with the police station so close and the new ownership, I feel very secure visiting...
Read moreI lived here about three years ago. I have to begin by saying that it was literally the worst four months of my LIFE. i would have NEVER opted to live here. but i moved from out of state and this was where my family was staying at the time. during the four months i lived here i had a window get broken out, two of my tires slashed, my next door neighbor died in the bedroom i shared a wall with, people were constantly stealing my CLOTHES from the washroom, the neighbors below me were always wasted and banging around and on SEVERAL occasions vomited on the stairs leading to my apartment and all over below their balcony. one of the WALLS on the front staircase by the leasing office FELL DOWN into the parking lot. the neighbors were all weirdos and shady. one lady would LOCK her son out on the balcony for hours while she took various men up to her apartment. he would be out there crying and pounding on the windows and the police would just NEVER show up. the lady in the leasing office signed for a very expensive package of mine and KEPT IT! then called the police on my husband when he confronted her. all in all, this place should be demolished, along with all the trash who resides there. i would rather live in my car then...
