I would give no stars if I could. Took my mother there for a mother's day dinner(she doesn't get out of the house much, she's elderly and picked this restaurant) and we will not go again. Service is horrible and the manager isn't any better. Placed our orders, my daughter ordered fried pickles for the table and I ordered fried mushrooms for the table. Waitress insisted that we place our dinner order at the same time, so we did. We all got our salads and then the pickles came out along with the dinner plates. Notice I did not say the pickles and mushrooms came out, only the pickles and everyone's plate except for mine. A different waitress asked me what I ordered, so I told her and she went to the kitchen where I could hear them arguing with her about it. So I sat there and waited and waited, until everyone else was finished eating and the to-go order that someone at our table had placed was brought out and I still didn't have my food. I asked to speak to the manager and the waitress said "he doesn't have time to talk to you, but you can go in the kitchen". Well I did and he said he was too busy to talk to me. Then we boxed up everyone's leftovers and they finally brought my plate out. I told them it was too late and to take it back to the kitchen and we were leaving. At this point, the manager miraculously had time to come out and talk. He commenced to telling me that the waitress said I had changed my order after she put it in (this was not true) so I told him that she lied, so then here she comes from the back to start yelling at me to not call her a liar. So I asked her point blank where we're my mushrooms and she said "I didn't charge you for them", so I asked her did you turn them in and she said no. Basically, in a nutshell, she didn't turn my order in and tried to blame it on me. If I hadn't placed my order when everyone else did, why did I get my salad when they did? Then she wanted to stand there and glare at me like I had done something wrong. I asked for the ticket so I could pay for my mom's dinner and my meal was not on there, but she did add it to my daughter's ticket. Very unprofessional and rude, the manager should have said something to his waitress for yelling at a customer. Do not waste your time or your money going...
Read moreThere really should be a seperate rating system for food and service... I love Baytown Seafood food, and I have always been disapointed by the service. This visit I had iced tea, jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, and blackened red fish with the saureed veggies on a bed of brown rice.
The tea was cloudy and just about turned.
The bacon shrimp was so good I almost ate a toothepick, maybe I did?
The salad was a bowl of shredded lettuce with a tomato wedge and three carrot gratings. I liked their homemade ranch dressing on it. it was so chilled that my teeth hurt from the salad.
The sauted zuchinni, yellow squash, and long green beans were excellent.
The brown rice was bland. I am not a rice fan anyway and left 90% of it.
The blackened redfish was not necessarily blackened as browned. However, it was moist, had outstanding flavor and was a huge portion.
The service was as I have come to accept at Baytown Seafood, they are working them to death doing prep, to go orders, and whatever else in the kitchen so the wait staff are busy.
I had to wait a few minutes to be seated even though the place was not crowded at all, and when I was done I waited for a few minutes to see my waitress to get my check. Finally I walked up and stood by the register for a few minutes until the cashier came to the front with to go orders. He ask for my check, I shrugged. Then after a minute my waitress hurried to the register and cashed me out.
I have seen this same thing at three different Baytown Seafoods where the wait staff is run to death not by the customers, but by the managers doing food prep and to go orders. It must just be part of the business. So if you like good food and a great variety menu be patient and enjoy.
$25 not including tip, I was understanding. My waitress...
Read moreAbsolute worst expierence possible. Coming from a restaurant manager myself. Understaffed with two waitresses on a Sunday, so greeting itself took too long. Apps were great (boudin and bacon shrimp), three entrees, all wrong (we kept one plate because my dad manage to eat it). Steaks you couldn't cut and worst flavor. Lobster the length of my pinky and texture of a tough chew. When the waitress finally came to check on us fifteen minutes later (after we and other tables asked a busser to get her), we were able to send the food back. She never came back. She never sent a manager. I had to go to the front and ask for a manager. He gave me the bill with a $5 discount. Again, we sent two steak/lobster plates back. When I tried to talk to the manager on the unfairness of charging when it wasn't touched, he immediately started arguing with me and said "half of the plates were ate". First off, no because we couldn't even cut into the food. Not even the baked potato. Second, he never came to the table to see it. I'm sure a 3 inch lobster looks half ate but when that's original size, then no, it wasn't. Not one bite out of them! And two bites taken from each steak!l before giving up! I understand understaffing, I understand sometimes bad product happens, but I DONT understand a manager that raises his voice at guests for trying to solve a problem and ask for a correction. So in the end, I was charged $80 for the ticket. The only positive from this experience is it showed me how I am so proud of my own management skills and team for not...
